I have been thinking...I play a bit of SMP on a small private server with 3 people playing. We are well established now and we all pool our resources at a central base...lots of fun :smile.gif:
Anyways...I have been using as much redstone as I can for machinery/mining/engineering etc...but we still have an abundance. I am talking a large chest full of stacks of 64. I love the machinery that can be built, but it just seems that redstone just cant be used up as quick as it can be mined (our rabid dwarf does most of the mining...i swear he is addicted to it, hehe)
So my suggestion is this:
Make a detonator like device and run the redstone dust(or you could craft it into explosive string) to another detonator...then when power passes through the line it blows the block that the redstone powder(or explosive string) is sitting on as well as the detonators - thereby crating a one block deep trench along the line that you just created...if the detonators could boost power or if the redstone repeater could be used in the line, you could make some pretty cool stuff...This would effectively use a lot of redstone and be lots of fun too!
I don't see a need for this. It sounds like you want to make special TNT that uses redstone in the recipe to create a controlled explosives. Explosives by their very nature are finicky and unpredictable; even if you know what your doing. If you want to make a line trench, go ahead and place your TNT in a row and set it off sequentially or simultaneously with redstone. You can then add or remove blocks to smooth out the inconsistencies from the random explosions.

I'd at least like to see the option of something similar to the red alloy wire from Eloraam's RedPower. Basically, a superconductive version of redstone wire that can be placed on walls/ceilings, and can carry a signal for a longer distance.
I like the idea of redstone det. cord, but a think a more practical use would be hollow blocks that redstone wires can run through and not have their connection severed, or be able to run horizontally along blocks.

What do ya think everyone..?
It would be really handy for making roads/channels in a more controlled way than you can with TNT I think.
It would make more sense if it were gunpowder. Redstone conducts energy. Gunpowder explodes. Or sulfur or whatever it's called now.
Because that wouldn't be a tedious nuisance...
