Okay, so I don't know if others have thought of this as well, but here's my idea:
Currency. (You could tell from the title.) Currency = Money, Money = Economy. Maybe the currency could be iron/gold coins that could be crafted from iron/gold ingot. This would mean that in a village, you can buy resources from villagers! This would fix the whole free farming/shelter thing, because if you just tried to take their stuff, there could be a message like: "You must pay for this item" or whatever. This could also make economy servers run more smoothly. Obviously, there would be trading too, and you might think that this might make this whole currency thing obsolete. Well, how about this? Hypothetically, let's say you can get 80 gold coins from 9 gold ingots. So let's say at a village, you can buy 15 pieces of bread for your 9 ingots. However, you can get 20 pieces of bread for 80 coins, thus saying 80 coins > 9 ingots, even though you can craft 80 coins with 9 ingots. Long story short: you get a discount with currency.
Now, this is not a developed idea, so CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be great.
So, what do you guys think?
