It all started when I pulled up the latest snapshot . . .
I was loading up a new map with the new snapshot installed. The zombies attacking villagers sounded absolutely awesome. Villagers would now interact with each other and repopulate the village; I could not wait to find a village and see the new improvements. I finally did find one and I loved it. The villagers now felt animated and no longer wandering idiots. I decided to stay the night in the village.
Boy was I surprised.
Zombies were everywhere; three or four attacking a single village house at once. The house I was staying in had about five villagers all hinding in a corner as the zombies pounded on the door.
That endless sound of *Thud Thud* scaries me after this horrifying experience.
The zombies finally broke in and within a minute everyone in the house had been killed by zombies except for me. I hid in that house for the rest of the night and in the morning I came out of shelter to see the damage. Every villager had been killed by a single night of zombie attacks. It was horrible. The villagers had no way of protecting themselves and the zombies were able to make the town a ghost town in a single night of no defenses. Even as I look back, even it the villagers did survive that first night, all the doors would have been knocked down and they would have certainly been killed the next night.
But I have some solutions :smile.gif:
First off, villagers need to protect themselves with weapons, if zombies are going to knock down their doors, they need a way to fight back.
Example: The blacksmith of each town bares an iron armor set and an iron sword. He is able to protect the town with the help of the cow-hide wearing, wooden sword weilding townspeople. Not every villager is able to fight against zombies.
Secondly, villagers need to be able to replace doors. Even if they were able to fight back, the defenseless homes would be unable to shelter the children who cannot fight. Overtime the population of the village would be wiped out.
Finally villagers need more health. A few hits from a zombie easily take out the weak villagers. With armor and weapons, they still would be unable to protect themselves with such low health.

Good idea, and here's another idea: over time, a random-grade sword would pop out of the blacksmith's "forge", but not diamond, and consume 2 of the resource it was from the village storage, and when a villager saw it, they would pick it up, if it was better than their current, including nothing. The way they get the resoures are the town miners, and the villages have a pre-generated small mine and they have stone picks, eventually getting better as they find more iron, gold and such. the mine is a simple stairway down into the earth, and the miners will mine anything their current pick can handle that is of value, and gradually dig farther down.
Occasionally, they would dig up 10 stone or so, and they would build new homes and expand their village.
Eventually, they would have a large town rather than a village, and will build walls and defenses around the border. As time passed, they would make bigger walls and more houses, eventually turning into a bustling city. Even further on, they would make cool entrances in the walls, like gates, and their baker would harvest the wheat farms and use it to bake bread for town food. Villagers would also gradually eat the food they get, and anyone with a sword would periodically go out and "hunt" for meat, pigs and such, and bring them back, using coal or spare wood to cook it.
They would also make new farms, with pumpkins and melons.
Thanks for reading my blabbering, and i know it would be a lot of AI work, but im sure they could have it done by 1.2 if they wanted to implement it!
I agree that the broken doors are a problem now. Especially since villagers only identify a "home" if it has a door (and walls and roof). So if doors get broken, and don't get fixed, the surviving villagers won't repopulate as much as they need to, to survive the next night.
I tried playing on normal difficulty after, but that just gets boring if the zombies never break through a door.
Finding an effective balance that will work on hard difficulty will be very difficult, but I trust jeb will figure something out.
I heard Jeb will add a way for the villagers to defend themselves.
Here are my personal ideas:
-I like the idea of the blacksmith who is stronger, and can arm the other villagers. I think he should also be able to fix broken doors in the day
-I think that the blacksmith should also be able to equip villagers with swords, armor, etc.
-I think the blacksmith should make things in his workshop, using materials that you put into his chest. He would need both his furnaces and lava to work, and he would create things from the materials available to him, and as needed.
-if the blacksmith dies, there should be a way to get another one. Maybe give one of the child villagers iron ingots and stuff, and they will have a chance to grow up a blacksmith. Or maybe the blacksmith should always have an "apprentice", who will become the blacksmith if the main blacksmith dies. At night the apprentice would be cowardly, and the blacksmith would protect him. But there should be some sort of limit to the number of blacksmiths in a village.
Awesome idea, but maybe no iron armor (a little too good for villagers), full leather for the blacksmith with iron sword and wooden sword+ leather breastplate for the rest.
PS. The librarians should fight off zombies with books.
PSS. An archer in the central tower/church thing would be excellent.
the villagers should have a zombie pig man like qualaty so they attack anything that hits them or the houses, so they can prevent players from killing entire villages,it's always anoying to find a village on a server that was compleatly destoyed by some stupid grifer.
ps. i like the blacksmith idea.
Maybe theres another villager 'carpenter'
which can fix a door every 2 doors everynight.
But dont say 'If only 2 door everynight, its the same because the zombies gonna come and break it even more!' because what am I going to say was theres a few carpenters depending how much carpenters building in the village. 1 carpenter house yield 2 carpenters.

Enderman:" It said 'Friendly Server' But they aren't Friendly at all!"
Best suggestion ever. The new Villager updates are awesome, but the Villagers still need to be a bit more in-depth - your ideas would fix that completely.
