Saying something that's been said many'a'time before and looking like an asshole from it isn't "winning".
I think this is a good idea, but only when the game is finished, or at least in Beta.

If anything, it would be a LONG time before someone ports this. I don't think notch would do that, but it would be something interesting for on the go.
I think at least the iPhone 3g-s would support the hardwear needs.

Yes, it would be difficult to hit the compile button one more time. (Android applications are written in Java.)

MC runs with about 1fps on my netbook, so guess how it would be on a smartphone
Don't know. You might actually get better performance on a Nexus One.
use your imagination, one thumb for moving (joystick kinda thing) and other thumb for looking around, you could choose the resource from a inventory (which pops up when you click that nice little "i" in the corner) and building/digging switch should be some where in the side. and the digging and building should be handled by just tapping the screen. Can't figure out how to jump thought ._. (a buttan maybe?)

For the ipod, jump = shake, move = tilt, look is dragging your thumb, and tap to place, as well as the little i and stuff.

I just got my HTC Desire the other week and am looking forward to any kind of progress towards a Minecraft Android build. Theoretically it should be possible, and even the controls can be dealt with in a good manner.
So why not port Minecraft over to Android OS phones?
Only problems I could see would be controls, but there might be other limitations, such as hardware specs.

I was thinking it could have an auto-updater.
I made a topic about this as well. Feel free to check back here for my ideas:

The iphone 3g has a 600mHz processor and 256MB of ram.
Netbooks typically have more than that.
I guess you could have fun on a 16^3 map (the way minecraft is currently).

Sounds aggravating.
