I want to start off by saying that I apologize if this has already been suggested before... but I searched the first few pages and found nothing on it.
I've been playing Minecraft since alpha came out... and one of my favorite additions has been the addition of Squids.. or Octopus because I love underwater bases and adventures.
I'm suggesting that there be more content that we can explore in the deep waters.
As of right now the only real reason we have oceans is to basically add to the flavor. In other words... currently oceans don't have much of a use.
It would be awesome if some sunken ships/ pirate ships were added to the depths of the ocean with special monsters and loot on them.
Sharks could be added to the oceans to add some hostile mobs in the deep parts of the water.
We could have special dungeons that only have entrances through the bottom of oceans.
Also... with this addition... i think oceans would have to be generated slightly deeper and most importantly we would need new ways to navigate under the water and for this I would suggest a diving helmet and suit of armor.
This armor would allow you to swim faster and the helmet would provide infinite or longer breath.
The helmet would also feature a light on the front of it like a mining light.
The helmet could also make a cool oxygen tank noise and have a similar effect as when you put a pumpkin on your head (your first person camera changes to show that you have a pumpkin on your head)..
That's about it for my suggestions... if you have more suggestions for more underwater content... leave a post.
If you simply like the idea... give the thread a bump.
Actually we've been waiting for more underwater content since squids first came out. There are quite a few old threads out there with all sorts of cool ideas, but now I think everyone is just tired of hoping for it. Maybe Jeb will come to address this issue eventually. Perhaps rather soon since this latest release he's working on has alot of new land features, it only makes sense that aquatic stuff would be next on the list. However, it also made sense that we would have had more content a year ago. I myself hope for underwater breathing potions, coral, deep oceans, sailboats and whales among other things.
