I was thinking that Minecraft would be a lot more interesting if your character could get injured in a way that doesn't just take away health. A similar mechanic was used in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. If Snake broke a bone, he had to use a splint and bandages to treat the injury. For Minecraft, the bandages could be made out of wool, a wooden plank could act as the splint, and string would tie it together. What do you guys think? Would this be a plausible addition to the game?
This would be a good multi-step recipe to put in (unless the splint itself is an item to be constructed by itself), but that isn't the type of thing Jeb would put on high priority. Maybe sometime in the future this will happen, though.

Sounds valid, but there should be more injury types (depending on what happened) and more medical treatments (ranging from casts to Regen Serums).

It would add an extra layer of challenge to the game. For people who don't want it, I was thinking that it could be an option that is turned off by default on Peaceful, Easy, and Normal difficulties. It would also make survival challenges more interesting. Heck, maybe paulsoaresjr could work it into a future season of Man vs. Minecraft.
I think injuries that require specific medical treatments should be non fatal, but inhibit the player so that they get it fixed asap. If it was fatal, it would really suck for new players, people who can't find a sheep, etc.

Having multiple types of injuries and treatments was what I had in mind for this feature. I was just using broken bones as an example. Also, I was thinking some injuries would have different effects. For instance, being set on fire could cause burns, which can be treated with herbs you randomly find while exploring. The herbs could be made into an ointment by breaking them down in the little 2x2 crafting area. After applying the ointment, bandaging the burned area nullifies the injury.

why, exactly, would anyone want this?
