Hello, I had this idea it's pluck-able chickens. In my mind it would work like you find a chicken and some shears. You would right click the chicken with the shears like you do with sheep. The chicken would then turn into a sheared chicken so it would have its normal head but its body would look like a chicken with no feathers like the sheep looks without wool. For the chicken to regrow its feathers you would right click a chicken with seed and it would regrow its feathers in a moment. Or maybe it would only have a chance of regrowing its feathers like how wolfs have a chance of being tamed when being fed bones. Thanks and tell me what you think.
For you to pluck the feathers off a chicken, don't you have to tear the feathers off, or boil it until they start to fall off. If I'm wrong please correct me, but other than that I love it.
Well maybe there could be a way to craft tweezers?
Like instead of a diagonal line of 2 iron ingots it's 2 iron ingots one on top of the other to make some tweezers to pluck the feathers off.
Tools of the trade and all.
After you shear a chicken for feathers, they should regrow them if you feed them seeds. Brilliant idea, I support.
I also think that arrows should take half the regular time to draw back an arrow and fire, but they should do half their regular damage as well. :tongue.gif: BUT, if you hit a MOB in the head with an arrow, they will take double damage. This would add skill to PVP and combat, and make minecraft more interesting.
Hell yes. But not the seeds bit. Chickens should peck in the ground and then regrow like sheep do. Seeds should be their breeding item, and sheared chickens should also lose the ability to cushion falls.

What would the peck at the ground for, i would think you mean worms and i feel since your taking care of them you should feed them like with sheep they eat grass so you have to use your bone meal to grow grass and feed them. With seeds you would be feeding them seeds to give some control over your farm also this would give a use of seeds since right now once you have the farm size you want seeds become pointless.
You do realise it's impossible to pluck a chicken when it's still alive? Well, it's possible, but each feather would be midway between having an individual hair and having a fingernail pulled out pain-wise...
I agree; shearing chickens does not match up with real-life mechanics. Not everything in Minecraft needs to be analogous to real life, but this stretches it too far I think. I mean, you wouldn't sheer cows for leather or meat would you?
I believe the "need" or reason behind this mechanic is you can't gain an appreciable amount of feathers from killing chickens. If this is the case (and I feel that it is), we should simply increase the number of feathers dropped by chickens to 6 - 10 per chicken. This should make it so you do not need to set up a mechanized slaughter house to fill a quiver of arrows.

edit: also love the idea.
I love the Tweezers idea, that would make this perfect.
I got to say I'd rather not have this in the game. As others have said there isn't an actual way to pluck a chicken without slowly torturing it to death. Besides, chickens have two ways they can reproduce, and are easy to manage. I really don't think it's necessary is all.

It's kind of funny that people are debating against this with realism when there's floating trees, zombies, and weird splotchy green creatures that go up to you and blow up
I've made a new topic here to champion the point I made earlier.
Before you cry "fowl", I have a link citing this topic and other feather related topics and with that aside, my idea is distinctly different than the OP.
And if you bothered to read the comments on your well researched topic, you would see that the topic has been posted a few times before you posted yours as well.
Also I cited yours in my topic as well so I better not see a pointless post in my topic.

Good idea, but not really necessary..
I'd like chickens to have a rare chance to just, drop a feather like they would an egg.
Then you could have like a renewable feather farm going on, now what with zombies no longer dropping them.
