You get me,if we have soon to be sentinent villagers,we have abandoned mines... but why shouldn't villagers work in mines? They could mine and bring the stuff to the village. These "mining" villages will generate in all biomes, unlike the villages now. Miner villagers would have armor,if the blacksmith has made one. They will carry swords and pickaxes too. If they find a dungeon, they will simply destroy the spawner and take the loot. And build a rail. However,if they find a abandonet mine, they will reopen it,and deal with the enemies inside. When the night falls, they leave their equipment in a chest somewhere at the enterance. And leave the goodies at the blacksmith and their homes. When the sun rises, they go out of their houses,go to the mine, take their equipment and continue mining.
Could be good,as i don't like only having abandoned mines. Also, how did the villagers get their pebbles(cobblestone) and lava anyway?

**** no. That would remove a big part of the world without the player even being able to prevent it, and Notch has expressed he doesn't want that.
I'm all for villager mines, as long as they don't actually mine or build anything. It's supposed to be the player's world.
