So, TNT is great. But it isn't really useful when you want to just hollow out a floor, or help with a tunnel.
So I suggest directional TNT!
How? Using obsidian "plating". Since obsidian can't be destroyed with TNT, it is the perfect material for creating "plating" that could be used to direct the energy of an explosion.
For example, this crafting recipe would create a TNT that only shoots explosive energy horizontally, making it great for clearing a room: [O]=Obsidian [T]=TNT
[O][O][O]
[T][O][T] = 2x horizontal tnt block (horizontal plane)
[O][O][O]
[O][T][O]
[O][O][O] = 2x vertical tnt block (vertical plane, relative to you when placing)
[O][T][O]
These TNT's would have a little bit of scatter, but be pretty focused.
The column TNT would shoot the explosive power only in one direction. If you dig a hole in a wall, and place it, it will face away from you. Away from you up, down, or sideways.
Once detonated, the "platings" would have a 70?% of surviving, and could be picked up. Once picked up, they could be crafted with 2 TNT blocks to create the appropriate directional TNT charge.
So, this would make TNT much more fun! And it seems pretty reasonable. What do you think?
This is nice. I had thought it would be some super powered tnt beam or something, but this is a good idea and would be very helpful. Keep coming up with the awsome ideas!
Why not just place obsidian blocks on the TNT? It would have the same effect, I think.
It would have a similar effect, but not the same. The explosive power would still be spread out. The energy that hits the obsidian would simply be "absorbed", and on the other side things would be like normal.
With what I am suggesting, it would focus all the explosion energy in the direction that you want. End result, something like a column explosion would have 500% more energy on the exploding side, giving it much further range where you want it.
To calculate, normal TNT goes through 1 block of stone sideways. Based on my calculations, it should make a column through solid stone blast 3 stone deep, whereas normal TNT goes 1 stone deep to the side.

If anyone wants to port/remake this, feel free to do that! Or don't. It's up to you, really.
