1. I support this idea.
2. What you are proposing is non-propagating bamboo because in many parts of the world, planting bamboo outside of pots is a horrible idea.
3. If DinnerBone is making pandas, bamboo should really be added.
maybe we use bamboo like a polearm i mean its effective for fighting at a 3 block radius plus mojang might buff the enderman to have more attack distance since they have a long arms in the first place
I'll fix it right a way. If you bother taking the time to proof read my post, of course I'll make simple grammar and spelling corrections. As long as you aren't using my typos to try to sully the concept. What are your thoughts on it as an suggestion? Plus you forced me to learn a new word today; pedantic.
I've been following this topic for a while and I think its great, plus bamboo forests would be really cool. I agree that bamboo shouldn't be turned into another building block (stairs, half slab, etc.) I would like to see a thatch block that would act like tatami mats but snap vertically as well.
Also regarding flares and fireworks, they shouldn't ignite immediately upon placing. Instead they are ignited when the player punches it or its triggered by redstone. This could allow for coordinated fireworks displays.

Brilliant, I'll make the changes with a few alterations as soon as I'm able. I'll make it behave exactly like TNT. You can place it or break it, but to set it off, you need a flint and steel or use redstone signal.
Apparently the topic is now popular. I hope that means more eye traffic. At any rate, I plan on reading through the OP and making some revisions; updating and modifying ideas to make it more legible and fit recent Minecraft updates. For now, I quickly made changes to the OP regarding firework ignition.
Instruments have been brought up before here. Something like a stereotypical flute or perhaps a Pan Flute makes the most sense. If added, it wouldn't be an instrument like the ocarina of time where you would play notes in a certain order to make things happen (or just amuse your self). It would play constantly as you hold down the right mouse button. The issue was finding a use for it. I floated a few ideas in the previous post, but I have a new one that I thought of recently. When you go to bread farm animals in Minecraft, you get swarmed from all sides when you enter the pen because wheat doubles as a way to attract animals as well as make them breed. Because you can feed wheat to an animal multiple times, it would be a lot easier if they were all standing still and not swarming you. So I think that the ability to coax animals to follow you should be delegated to another item or tool. This is where the bamboo instrument could become useful. Not only does it occupy a selected item to bring animals with you, but you can't take damage or sprint either unless you loose their attention.
2. What you are proposing is non-propagating bamboo because in many parts of the world, planting bamboo outside of pots is a horrible idea.
I have a neighbor who has that very problem. Bamboo can be very expansive when it strays from it's planter guards. However, in the context of Minecraft, we don't want an automatically propagating plant because it would make acquiring a **** ton of bamboo too easy and it would be mushrooms all over again.

A pole arm like a spear or halaberd has been suggested before. I'm more inclined to suggest a Bo Staff however. The reason being is because spears have been suggested many times before and the question is what do you make the tip out of. You can either go flint or run the gambit of materials from wood>stone>iron>gold>diamond etc.. With the Bo Staff, the item remains uniquely bamboo. You have an improvised weapon, better in many respects than a wood sword because of a slight increase in reach (but not in damage). However, it's not an end game weapon because it will never amount to anything more than a Bo Staff (unless you make it enchantable). I'm not vetoing the spear idea, I'm just more inclined to do something different.
I Really like this idea! Maybe make bamboo able to transport water like in real life maybe craft it or something!
There is no real need to transport water in Minecraft. You place a source block where you need it and the water cascades wherever you sculpt the land to fit it. The only reason to transport water that I can see is to improve item transport. If that's the case, then you should through all your weight behind the Allocator Block, for that is your shinning paragon of item transport.
I created a Reddit page here for the suggestion. I'll add the link to the OP soon, but in the mean time please continue to show support or feedback through both the forums and Reddit. Also let me know if I made the Reddit page wrong, I'm not sure I fully understand what I'm doing.
I posted it in a subsection not many people visit. I'll post it in the proper suggestions section when I'm able to next.
Still in the process of revising OP. More on that later.
Updated OP with new formatting changes and content revisions. New idea to take advantage of pots by allowing Bamboo to be placed in pots as Lucky Bamboo. Also added the new Reddit page to the OP.

you seem to be plugging this all over the subreddit where it is not even the slightest bit related, please stop.
it would be different if it was a suggestions for plants or something but its not, please keep it to your post for bamboo and not anywhere else unless its related. kthx
I'd been thinking of a pan flute instrument, but I hadn't thought about percussion. Maybe a Gong crafted with bamboo and gold that when struck serves a utlitly purpose other than a signal. Like making all the villagers in a town come to you or something. It's a good thought and I'll credit you for the inspiration when I've thought it out fully thanks.
I worked on a bamboo block idea long time ago and people rejected it... now, here is my last picture of it and i give it to you:
I've been trying to get my hands on bamboo sprites. I'm not a good graphics artist as you can see from my crafting recipes. Do you have the textures for that block? Fair warning, I don't intend to add strait up Bamboo blocks (which now that I hear how people rejected your idea may have been the right move), but the textures look really nice and I'd like to put them to use. Thank you.
Tropicraft has some bamboo textures maybe you should ask Mr. Rube?

I'm in the process of suggesting my bamboo ideas to be added to their mod. The problem is we have a few conflicts with certain aspects should be handled (spears, solid bamboo blocks, etc.) However, if they would be willing to add my core crafting ideas (scaffolding, punji traps, and fireworks) I would be able to get images and perhaps videos for the main recipies. At the end of the day, I won't throw a pout fit if Bamboo was added as a separate plant to Vanilla Minecraft and the only uses for it are to create blocks, stairs, and slabs, but they have so much more potential than that.
You wouldn't know the best way to suggest this to them? I think I'm using a really obscure method, but it is the one they said to use in the tropicraft FAQ. Its possible they are all still on summer break and waiting for the modding API so I'll wait patiently till then.
I'll see if i still have them... i maybe deleted them, but any case, you still at least have the picture
EDIT: sorry, no i don't have them anymore, but i can recreate them tomorrow :[ (it's late night here)
No need to kill yourself for it, at your pace and time is fine by me.

Furries are cool.

It would look something like this.

I confess I don't know that much about Reddit or how it works. I refuse to have a twitter account, but maybe I should learn more about Reddit.
Now I'll catch up on the most recent feedback:
