Gravel is an overworld element, not a nether element.
I propose we replace it with Elysian Soil.
Elysian Soil is taken from Greek Mythology, it is the soil in which those who were good people in life get to relax in paradise on when they enter the Underworld.
Elysian Soil has the opposite effects of Soul Sand.
You may walk over full blocks when standing or walking on top of Elysian Soil, but not 1 1/2 tall structures. Your speed rises to 1.5 speed when walking on top of Elysian Soil.
This makes it a valuable resource, and another reason to go exploring the Nether.
It is a rather powerful block, so if you run into 1 and 1/2 tall blocks or taller, you take damage from smashing against it. (Doh)
Elysian Soil can not only be found naturally, it can also be crafted.
The recipe is: 1 Ghast Tear, 1 Magma Cream, One Glowstone Dust, and 1 Gold Nugget.
The ingredients may be placed in any pattern.
Completing the recipe will yield 4 Elysian Soil blocks.

I was saying that Elysian Dust was a valuable resource.
There is a difference between a description and an introductory term.
That aside, I will add more detail.
That would be pretty cool. Make Elysian Fields and storm the heavens!
I never get why people thing materials from hell should be used to get to heaven.
If an aether is introduced and the portal is made like nether portals, it should be made from an overworld material, not a hell material.
I really beg to differ. How does gravel not fit in Hell?
I would never waste Ghast Tears or Magma Cream to create some blocks. I'd rather just find where these blocks reside.
It seems kind of odd that The Nether would have both a slowing block and a speeding one.
