A relatively simple suggestion that may or may not be difficult to program, I guess.
It would be nice if slabs oriented themselves in a manner similar to pistons, allowing you to apply them to ceilings and walls with the 'bottom' against whatever surface you placed the slab on.
This could be useful for people who want a more smooth appearance to their walls and ceilings.
I guess 'half walls' might cause pathing weirdness, so that might be a problem.
Just saying 'there's a mod for that' really isn't allowed, brah. At least discuss things and give feedback.
And I support OP, I've always wanted slabs to be on the top half of the block, for neat bridges and such. Path-finding may be a bit skewed because of it, though.
That's exactly what I've done. I'm showing them the mod they should get if they don't want to wait a few months, but yes I have been wanting this to be a core feature to Minecraft for a long time, but the only mod I know of ever being added was Pistons.
He means if you were to place a half block on a block directly above you, the half block would be right under the bottom of the block, instead of having a floating half block above it. In the same way, placing a half block on a block directly to your right or left would position the half block on the side of the block with the half block's top facing you instead of facing the sky.

What do the rest of you think?
Because everybody also thinks Notch should of added them before Jeb took over. Thank god, we've gotten really nice updates ever since he did.
I began minecraft ~July 7 2011 1.7.3 Beta
My username used to be Creative_Dalek but is now Dalek since 2/4/2015
Just DL Eloraam's Redpower and you get better redstone, half, quarter, eighth walls, posts, and pillars.
EDIT: 3 New tools too.

Make sense? XD
