Hello there!
Okay, we alerady have armor to increase defense. But we don't have anything to increase atributes other than defense (speed, health etc.) Before you say "Use potions" i thought about something that would increase that atribute PERMAMENTLY (Not for a minute or so). So i came up that rings would be the best for that job.
The ring slot would be next to armor slot, so you can only wear one at a time.
The rings would be seperated in three tiers:
Normal rings
These would be the easiest to make. They would increase the attribute by 2.
They would be crafted like this: Greater rings
These rings are similar to Normal rings, except they are made of gold instead of iron. They increase the attribute by 3.
Crafted like this: Superior rings
These rings can only be found in dungeons. They increase the attribute by 4.
(Note that in the recipes above i used Lapis lazuli just as an example.)
Of course, each attribute would be crafted with different ores.
Attributes
Speed - Lapis lazuli
Health - Diamond
Vitality (The ammount of speed you will regain health) - Redstone
Defense - Iron ingot
Strenght - Obsidian
(Tell me your ideas and which ores should be used for each attribute!)
Special Rings
None of this rings can be made.
Spider Eye Ring
Not only that it increases Speed and Vitality, while wearing it you also have a chance of POISONING the mob attacked.
You can only find it in Abandoned Mineshaft, at cave spider spawner.
Hell Ring
Altrough it doesn't increase any attributes, while wearing it the ammount of damage dealt from Fire, Lava... everything burning :biggrin.gif: is decreased by 50%. There is 50% chance it will reduce 75% damage, and 10% that you WON'T BE DAMAGED.
This ring would be very rare find at Nether Fortresses.
The Ring of Beggining
The best and the most valuable ring, thought the rarest. You can only get it from Ender Dragon. There is a 50% chance that Ender Dragon will drop it after death.
Not only this ring icreases ALL stats by 5, but it also will
SAVE YOU FROM DEATH! When you die, you will be teleported to the spawn (Along with fancy special effects, of course), and the ring will shatter into dust. If you're lucky, there is 5% chance that the ring won't break.

I think if the rings were to be craftable, it should require 7 of the metal ingot instead of just 3. And I think a speed ring seems a little overpowered. Maybe use lapis for vitality, nix redstone and iron ingot as jewels, and use emerald for a defense.
I like this idea a lot. An alternative mechanic for the rings would be that when they're found/crafted, they get a random enchantment, and the quality of the ring dictates the quality of the enchantment. Gold would be the only metal for the ring. Lapis would be lowest tier jewel, then diamond, then emerald.
Also, THREAD NECROMANCY BAH HAH HAH HA HA. No, seriously, I like this idea. I think it should get more discussion.

its a good idea although i think it will be abused
Not sure what do you mean, but if you mean about multiple rings weared, you would only be able to wear one at a time.
Jokes aside, this could get overpowered quick.
