Yes. Stealth. With the addition of OMG JOINTS and the lighting update, this would go perfect. The system is pretty sample.
You press a button to drop into stealth, and another to hop out of it. While in stealth, you lower yourself to one block high because you are, you know, crouching. You move at half the speed in this mode, and cannot jump. You also cannot mine in stealth mode.
When you are in a mob's regular sight range, it will do a check. If you are in a dark area, you'll be harder to detect than if you were in the light. If the mob is looking directly at you, you'll be easier to notice than if you were behind him. If the mob doesn't notice you, something will happen. I'm not sure, maybe a ? will appear above his head. Anyways, you'll know what you're A-OK for sneakan.
Now that you're close to him, you have a couple of choices.
A) SNEEK ATTACK
Should be pretty obvious. Depending on where you hit them, you will do more attack damage than normal. Attacking in stealth mode brings you out of stealth, as to not have Stealth be godmode.
:cool.gif: PICKPOCKET
Wasnt too sure about this. All that happens is the mob does another check, and if it doesnt notice you, you go into its inventory. You can take their things, but everytime you try another check is done. Larger quantities add to the risk of being caught. Heavier materials also contribute to this factor.
When you're caught, the mod flips around and gives out a noise, then chases you.
With the addition of throwing items, I thought it'd be nice if you could throw something to divert the attention of a mob, making it easier to sneak up to them.

I am NOT going to see friend requests, so stop sending them.
lol,
I would like being able to crouch.
You could make puzzles involving crouching.
Though mining... id prefer that it would take twice as longer instead of not being able to crouch at all

How about, If you are in a darker area, monsters cant see you as well unless they bump into you.
Like, if you were in Half darkness, it be slightly hard to see. but in pitch blackness, it would be impossible to see you, Or anything else for that matter.

Sooo... when's the next seecret Friday update topic going up? =[
I would like the idea of adaptive skin camo, instead of crouching, your players skin turns to the texture your back is to, the visibility factors would have to be preset for the zombies, but it would make a nice addition to multiplayer survival.

I think that stealth would be nice, but I see a few possible changes: You present stealth mode as essentially crouching (which Notch is going to add). I think that stealth should be done by clothes, IE wearing cloth armor made from like black cloth gives you some stealth. Camo shirts would provide 36% transparency, 27% from pants, 13.5% from camo hat and 13.5% from camo boots. Additionally, the boots reduce the sound your footsteps make to the sound that they make on cloth, but 50% quieter. Crouching reduces the volume of your footsteps by 50% as well, so crouched in full camo, you are almost noiseless and invisible.
Monsters shouldn't recognize your existence until they hear or see you. They will not hear you unless you aren't wearing camo boots, place a block, or you take damage. They will only see you if you are only 50% hidden- You are at least 10% camouflaged per level of darkness you are in, at level 6 darkness it boots your hidden percentage by 5% per level therein. You are rendered as opaque until you get to 50%. You get a bonus 10% of hidden for crouching. You lose 10% of hidden when moving, except when crouching, where you only lose 5%

Sound good?
And mobs not seeing you as well in the dark is silly, since they are drawn to darker areas/spawn in the dark/get violent at night.
Give a little. =♥=
Well, it seems silly to me to make it so that mobs see you worse in light, because then a mobile torch means that you are invisible to monsters.
