I don't know about the rest of you but I'm very disappointed in the direction the design aspect is leaning towards. Cats? Meh. I'd rather they fix a lot of waypointing. I'd rather they fix villages. I'd rather they fix endermen. I'd rather they add variation to wolves (you can never get attached to nondescript, noname, no experience wolves). I'd rather they color the Nether. They are pretty much introducing new ideas and abandoning them while still unpolished, unsatisfactory and uninteresting.
I'm not in the mood for enumerating and expounding on my various reasons for thinking so, so here's a nice list of better enchantment ideas.
Here are some more pretty trite ideas, but some way more creative than the set the developers gave us.
Weapons
1.) Absorption: Heal on kill or on attack, should start out quite ineffective.
2.) Insight: Increased exp on kill, should start out ineffective as well.
3.) Cleave: AOE damage for melee, yes small start as well.
Tools
4.) Flexibility: Uses less durability for blocks it wasn't intended for.
5.) Power: Can destroy blocks that it usually cannot, e.g. a wooden tool destroying what a stone tool can (Power I), or a gold tool destroying what a diamond tool can (Power II, because it jumps two steps, iron then diamond)
6.) Magic: Mined blocks yield processed items, e.g. grain to bread (too strong), logs to wood (sometimes undesirable, but that adds to the depth of enchantments), iron ore to iron ingots.
Armor
7.) Retaliation: Knockback to melee attacks, starts out slight.
Boots
8.) Speed: Self explanatory, perhaps could cost durability as you sprint
9.) Jump: Self explanatory, perhaps could cost durability as you jump
Bows
10.) Reinforcement: Increases accuracy and range.
Some pretty rad ideas.
1.) Soul Bound: Stays in your inventory when you die, applicable to any item.
2.) Starsong: Is stronger when under the stars, for weapons primarily.
3.) Sting: Glows in the presence of various entities, either ores or enemies. Perhaps the glow is distinguishable if its in your hand, or through the inventory screen where the icon changes. Can glow in the presence of spiders, redstone ore, diamond ore, clay, etc. Applicable to any item.
Like the Ideas, but its not like we can't create Uncreative enchantments. All these seem to be used a lot in many games, so why do you call our enchantments Uncreative?
Pretty cool. I've been praying for a sting sword in Minecraft FOREVER! I think it should glow the color of the closest hostile mob :biggrin.gif:
Maybe a Sting enchantment for a pick would guide you to ores?
