Let's face it, Hardcore mode is easy. Sure, it's not easy, but it's basically Hard mode with permanent death.
What I suggest, is that creepers as well as exploding to attack you, but also when they die. Not only it would be more "hardcore", it would be a nice callback to Survival Test.
For example, you would need to get a bow, and actually try to stay away from them - currently you can just punch them to death.
"But Pigman, what about my builds and mines?" Well, there's Easy, Normal and Hard modes. On these, creepers would behave as they do now.
"And how would we get gunpowder?" They'd still drop gunpowder, which would spawn after the explosion.
I agree that hardcore mode is too easy; it should have creepers which teleport behind you and explode when you look at them. Then it would actually be a challenge.

Most of the forums think Hardcore is pretty easy. At least, not hard enough.
Ok, that's a bit overkill...
Creepers wouldn't give experience, probably. What do you think? Suggestions are welcome.
