NPC villagers should be able to talk (in the chat log and/or gui or some notice) and have quests example: theres a creeper in my house :ohmy.gif: omG!if you can get it out ill give you a gold ingot.
How quests will work walk up to village Then they will post something in the chat log (the quest or hello) then you can msg back an anwser. This way NPC villagers have a use.
If you dont like this idea and vote no then please tell me how to make this idea even better if its all if it them i cant really do any thing about that.
Dont forget to vote! :smile.gif:
For one thing, don't bump the thread like that - it's childish. Also the fact that you need to bump it so much should tell you that people simply don't support the idea. While Minecraft certainly has some RPG elements to it, it isn't an RPG at heart. Overall your idea just isn't very good because of that.
what about if you can trade with them and then you can get money?
what about if some npc's need a lot of one item like: a bakery need a lot of wheat.
and because of that, the bakery buy wheat for a high price.
what about if you can work for them? what about if they CAN HATE YOU? like if you kill one of them?
what about if a cities have themes. then you can find a japanese themed city and other themed cities.
NOW, comment on this. BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP!
Yes thats exactly what i mean :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:
WHY THE F is no one commenting on this topic? NOTHING TO ADD? NOT EVEN A PICTURE?
the idea is awesome... people have talked about it. NOW MAKE IT HAPPEN!
A momment of ikr. Notch please please please add this look at the votes there almost completly positive. :laugh.gif: :smile.gif: :biggrin.gif:
I think it would improve minecraft because the villagers have absalutely no use.
Two things: Notch does not read these often, and Jeb is at the head now
On topic, here's a thought for making villages more lively: Supply and Demand.
Different villages have different demands, allowing you to - if you choose - deliver items to the villagers to gain items of grater value. Here are a few examples:
One village demands sheep. Luring sheep to that village will give you more wool (and differing colours too!) than shearing them yourself.
Another village demands cobblestone. Giving cobblestone to the villages will result in them smelting up Stone Bricks to make your castle more pleasant!
Some villages, if large enough, will demand Foreigners. If the inhabitants see an empty minecart and are able to get to it, they will flock to and try to ride it, if it's empty. You can then launch it (or push it) to other villages demanding passengers.
If you are feeling industrious, you can build railroad systems connecting all the other villages, automatically giving and receiving products.

What do you think?
What about the quests? because NPCs have no use this would give them a huge use.
honestly, I dont think this would belong in vanilla minecraft. it is fun to do this stuff in the mods that have them, and the adventure maps, but when it gets right down to it, minecraft is an adventure and building game, you adventure, harvest, mine, and then you build. a lot of the time you craft too. I could see maybe -some- quests such as "gather # of iron ingots and I will trade you # diamonds for them!" but going out and adventuring quests? They fit more into an rpg or a mod tbh.
i think villagers should just actully farm wheat and have maybe chicken farms and you can right click the farmers and you can trade stuff like cobblestone or planks and they build more house slowly and you can trade blacksmith and he can make iron iteams not diamon though that would reck the fun of finding them and maybe they should have guards that might be a bit to much but i hope you liked my suggestions :biggrin.gif: :laugh.gif: :smile.gif:

Actually you have a good point there is a adventure mode in the works.
