Since you begin your adventure, you create everything from the ground up. The tools, the structures, everything. You can use your resources to build an entire city, but whats the point if you're the only one living in it? I want to see a feature where you can create a house, and mark it somehow as a vacant home for an npc. Not the weird nose ones, more human people like you. It would give it a sense of unity, like you aren't the only one of your kind abandonded in this strange world, and you're working together to survive.
It would just need certain criteria. I'm thinking something like a 4x4x3 closed room (at least) with a door and bed to identify it as a house. Then something to actually mark it as a place you want an npc to live. Maybe a sign out front that say's "Vacant". Then they would roam around the general area like the other npc people would.
It would definitely give you the sense that you're working towards something far greater than your own survival.
It would be nice if we could actually build habitable places for villagers rather than having them stick to their small villages. Perhaps with the updated AI it can work that if a suitable lodging is nearby and their current home is destroyed, they will instead move to the new lodging.
I don't think we should have entirely new villagers considering that the Testificates already exist.

After living in a village with them I'm starting too warm up too them, except they're stupid.
Its called Multiplayer Server... Lots of people living in the same village. if you want to add npcs into you village
all that is required is to make a semi-invisible block or token item that marks the inside of a structre as a villager house, seeing as the New AI features for villagers will make them seek out a house and live in it, so its probably right around the corner already.
Boy, ain't that the truth! After having to rescue not one but TWO villagers from a well (one well, at the same time), and one of them almost fell back in, it's enough to tear your hair out!
Well what do ya know, it was implimented. I don't know exactly the dimensions, but the house needs to be a box with a door, and the Testificates nearby will move in.
I'm all for the squid ward guy moving into your buildings, but not new npcs. That would be a waste. Regardless of what you want them to look like they are there to be villagers and I assure you jeb will never add another completely different villager race, unless its for the soul purpose of starting wars with the squid ward people.

Yeah, to be quite honest, I dont see why people dislike them. But other races like pigmen and humans would be interesting.
Right. I don't see why we can't have people move to our villages instead of having to move to someone elses.
