That would make the JAR file huge if they included all the old version of minecraft!
How about having an option to turn on/off various elements of the game, thus allowing someone to simulate earlier versions of the game by turning off some of the newer stuff? Sort of how you can already do for NPC villages and abandoned mineshafts...
Well, for one thing, Notch is no longer working on Minecraft: Jeb is.
Secondly, it's a crappy idea. Minecraft developed differently than most games in that players saw it from its earliest stages and were able to play on it - most game developers don't do that, they want you to see the finalized version of the game because that is their completed project.
Mojang doesn't want players to see the earlier versions - they want players to be on the most recent versions of the product they've developed. MCNostaliga apparently allows you to go back (from what I'm reading by these other people), but that isn't endorsed by Mojang or anything.
So, in short, no. The idea has no place here. If you're really that desperate go for that MCNostalgia or whatever.
