Minecraft v1.2 - The Decorations Update - We came, we saw, we conquered, and now it's time to decorate! -
In Minecraft Alpha we were given a massive and infinite world to explore and claim as our own, killing monsters and surviving the night.
In Minecraft Beta we built our homes, our castles, our cities we and learned new recipies as well as how to enhance our weapons and tools.
In Minecraft we would now like to personalise our creations, and truly make them our own.
Let me elaborate. In my own Minecraft home I have to use staircases as chairs and fences as legs of a table. I know that this is just a game and all, but come on: it's pretty ridiculous. Up until now the dev team has been concentrating on adding new adventures, monsters and worlds to conquer, but how can we do so without even having fully conquered our own home world yet? I believe that now it is time to take a step back and perfect what still needs to be perfected with a nice, smooth and much needed Decorations Update.
I propose that the following should be added:
- CHAIRS: A combination of wood/stone and wool, for different styles and colours. We should also be able to sit on these chairs, so we can have cool tea parties or even just the simulation of a dinner at a table!
- SOFAS: The same as chairs, but they occupy 2 or 3 block spaces instead of one.
- TABLES: They can be wood, glass or stone. The show-offs can even make them with gold blocks if they want to. The Table block is only one block with four legs, but can be expanded at will by adding other table blocks next to it.
- CHANDELIERS: Are placed on the roof and hang down. You can add up to 4 torches to it.
- PLANTS & PLANT POTS: By making a plant pot and adding seeds to it, flowers and other decorative plants can blossom from it. You can put these pretty little things in your house to add a femminine touch to it.
- ARMOUR STANDS: Kind of gives your home a medieval touch: you can place your much valued diamond (or any other kind of) armour and swords for a great decoration that will impress your friends.
- SAFES: Kind of like chests but with a 3 digit combination to open it. Make griefing obsolete on SMP's with safes!
- FIREPLACES: Although we can already make what looks like a fireplace by adding nether blocks and setting them on fire, that always burns down my house...Either that be fixed, or you make a fireplace which only creates heat and light without burning down entire homes and forests.
- MORE TO COME...
I have thought of many different decorative items, some more realistic and likely to happen than others, which I will be adding progressively for my own personal reasons.
Do YOU have any ideas? Post them below and I shall add them.
Also, I'd appreciate some support for this thread, because the more people support it the more likely it is to happen. So, in essence, if you agree with this I'd love it if you could write something along the lines of "I support this thread".
Some of these are pretty good ideas, and your philosophy about what the game is doing is good too. It would be nice to see an increase in personalisation and creative opportunities and possibilities in future updates, although I don't think safes are that necessary. :tongue.gif:
Ahh yes, Minecraft does seem to have neglected the decorative side quite a bit. Though I cant sayy I support your reasons for having a fir place. If you placed Iron bars in the hole and problem solved.
Love it. But you can siply make a chandelier by using any block, a fence, and torches/glowstone
Yes, but its just not the same, especially with a low ceiling.
I really like these ideas, especially the safes. :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:

Cheers all,
Have a good one.

I dont want a mod, I just want this in minecraft. :angry.gif:
Look, this isn't about mods. Clearly he doesn't want a mod. Otherwise, he'd go to the mod suggestion page.
