If you ever played Minecraft in the alpha, you would know that it was simpler. I do not know why Notch added the crap known as beds, hunger bar, craftable mobs, ender, experience points/leveling up, potions, and enchanting. If you think about it, Minecraft was designed to be a creative game, not an RPG.
So if you want to play Minecraft as an RPG, why not have an RPG button?
I mean, seriously Notch, WTF? You can add a survival mode, creative mode, even a hardcore mode, but no mode that gets rid of all the stupid crap that you added in the beta. What if I, as a player, just want to go mining for diamonds as my goal for the day. Is that even legal now?
It used to be so simple: You gather wood and expand your house during the day, and mine by night. The first night used to be a fun experience where you had to stay indoors and avoid the outside world. You used to need to actually think out how you were going to set up your shelter, and if it was near a place where you could mine resources. Now, all you need to do is look for sheep, and your first night is now non-existent.
I know that there will be some comments that ignore the rules of this forum and say that you can just use MCNostalgia to backdate your Minecraft, but what if I want to be able to craft pistons (props to Notch for adding those, btw) or use a decent lighting engine rather than each block lit separately. What if I want the new blocks, but not the stuff that was added to make Minecraft compete with Skyrim or some crap like that.
So how about this: In Minecraft where it says Creative/Survival/Hardcore, just add a new button that is labeled RPG. That mode can cater to all of those people who want to beat Minecraft, since that is now possible (how dumb is that?) Just please don't force players like me to endure hunger bars and leveling up and the ender and enderdragons and enchanting and ... do I even need to go on?
Is there anyone else who thinks this?
By the way... this is a convenience thing. I do not want to have to install a mod to get rid of the hunger bar, the endermen, and the craftable mobs.
I would imagine this to be something that wouldn't be too hard for the dev team to do, so they may do it at some point. Maybe name is classic mode or something.
I guess that I must be in Alpha since I can make a new world, make a house, spend the night making a mine and coming out with diamonds.
But no.
I'm on 1.1
Living it up and happy because the game did change, but for the better, and it never changed in it's fundamentals.

Yah i agree it is true the basics are still the same. The only thing that is annoying now compared to then is just the food bar. So it would be nice for them to allow it to be turned off in game rather than having to mod it.
I mean don't get me wrong i would use this mode a lot but I doubt Notch will add it what with him adding stupid stuff like Snowmen lately. And wouldn't you rather see more bug fixes?

Notch isn't on the dev team anymore. He handed it over to Jeb.
Personally what I would like is an option menu where you can remove blocks from the game. Don't like beds untick the bed box. Don't like the nether untick the portal box. The same with potions, remove the brewing stand. if you don't like mobs untick them. And if that works other features like terrain option and block generation patterns could be added.
It would be a lot more flexible than an entire separate mode.

in all honesty, this would please many more people than minor bug fixes would. It would be smart for them to do this.
If when generating a new world there was a "Classic" option that got rid of the hunger bar and gave an old school world that didn't have a lot of the newer blocks--beds, brewstands, etc.--I would definitely play that mode somewhat regularly; but I think that "Classic" or "Alpha" should be the opt into version, not "RPG".

sigh... you will be the first of many to say to use a mod...
grizzly's right, you know. No one is forcing you to use all this "crap".
I'm no longer active here since no one else seems to be.

I'm pretty sure snowmen were added while Notch was still working.Oh nvm i guess i said I doubt Notch will add that. didnt mean to say that
