i have an idea that i think is pretty cool. what if all foods needed to be stored in a refrigerator.and if they were not they would go bad. and if you ate a bad (rotten) you could get poisoned. what do you think how would you change it ???????(original)
you would craft them like glass = snow block
idea changes:
This could make a food chest. This name indicates its purpose. It's made to store food. If you store food by other methods, it will go bad after awhile. Of course food would need to be in a loaded chunk for it to go bad.
If we take this idea further, we could give it a fuel source. Snowballs and snow blocks (ice blocks too even though they are unobtainable currently) will be used as fuel. If the fuel runs out it will just be a normal chest and your food would again be at risk.
This would make food storage more realistic, and put more importance to food management and how much we bring with us. It would also create a need for a food item that doesn't go bad, that people could choose to farm instead of maintaining a snow fueled chest. You could possibly cure food items with a new salt block that is found deposited in ocean biome floors, and by the shores.
Consider the potential of such an item. It would give us a reason to go to a snow biome, or as an alternative, we could cure food by going to an ocean biome. It would also add a layer of survival to the mix, allowing for a more realistic way of handling food. It would also give poisoned/bad food a more mainstream approach that goes beyond rotten flesh.

this would make a kind of ice box that will keep foods from going bad. And cured food will not need to be stored in the "ice box"
This would be cool as a mod :tongue.gif: But the poison thing? I'd take that out. I'd also take out snow, because sometimes people can't get to snow biomes, even though I live quaintly in the tundra and snow is easy for me to acquire.
This would be pretty cool, but I don't really think the food would be posioned e.t.c idea really would fit the game, because you used snow in the bottom bit, and snow biomes can be hard to find = no refigerator = rotten food always = ALWAYS poisoned = no health regeneration. But otherwise I think this is a great idea, and would be a great addition to the game. :smile.gif:
ya i guess your right maybe you get more health if it is in the fridge
I think that is a great idea! But perhaps call them Ice Boxes instead? I feel like refrigerator is to modern for the theme of the game. However I think if you used ice instead of snow it would be great. This of course would mean you can "harvest" ice which you currently can not.
With that being said I think introducing such a feature would be really cool. On that note, an added decay system for food. Of course something very simple like long decay times and no decay time with the refrigerator. Would be nice to see the extra element without complicating it at all!

Your idea is too complicated for Minecraft. If they were going to implement a fridge like thing in Minecraft it would have a simpler design and be crafted easier, because it's going to be necessary to survive. I suggest this design instead. OP if you like my idea, please edit your post with this as it will gain more of a response than your idea alone will)
glass = snow block
(Glass might look better in the crafting grid if it were a furnace if you could get over the fact that funaces are meant for burning and not cooling)

well maybe this idea could work, though some people wouldn't want this so there would have to be an option to turn it off maybe. Other than that the food chest seems like a better idea for minecraft than a straight out refrigerator.

Perhaps something not so modern, but with the same idea.
Excellent idea
