With the introduction to potions in Minecraft I saw a possible update in the future. Food Poisoning. You could craft poison and then add it to a piece of food such as a porkchop via crafting table, or 2x2 inventory square, making the food become poisonous though maintaining the same attributes of a regular pork chop (i.e.- Color, Size, Name, etc.), allowing the possibility to kill another player (as in multiplayer PVP) without directly confronting the player with a sword or a bow.
Think of it, sneaking into someones base, trying to remain undetected, then slipping a piece of poisoned food into their dispenser, food chest, etc. then slipping out again. You'd feel like an assassin.
Now if you wanted to go in-depth with this you could also think about the other things that would need to be added to make this fair. Limitations in a way to make the game fair for the person being poisoned. They could run their food through some type of simple checking process?
I don't know, it was just an idea, what do you think of it.
Hmm.. How about a throwable potion, that would poison all food in a chest that it hits.
Or maybe.. make the poisoned food be contagious! If stored in the same chest as normal food, the normal food has a small chance to get poisoned. Same with the inventory. This way you just need to drop off a poisoned steak, and it will poison the other food in their chest!
The poison should work on the whole stack of food. So a stack of beef, if poisoned, will turn into "poisoned beef". Thus making the poisoned beef pretty much useless!
