I had high hopes for the Endermen... perhaps they might finally be a mob that could pose a real threat to our bunkers/castles/forts whatever. But as long as we don't look directly at them, they pose no threat.
I'd like to see them have more capibilities... to move more types of blocks, and to be more aggressive in certain instances. For instance perhaps they'll try to retrieve Ender Pearls whether we carry then or if they are stored in our shelters... but, to make sure they're not there's 100% of the time, they'll leave at daybreak. To make sure they don't come from great distances to attack, perhaps they'll only "sense" a pearl, or whatever, from 30-50 blocks.
I love this idea. Endermen breaking into your house at night to steal an ender pearl :ohmy.gif:
That sounds awesome.
Thanks!
One option is they could teleport in. Of course this might be thwarted if we make the ceilings only two blocks high. But then if they can dismantle walls... at some given rate, maybe 2-5 a minute, they could work their way in to a shelter from the outside.
They used to be able to carry more types of blocks, but Notch (NOT Jeb) nerfed them.
I know. I consider it regretable. I was hoping the rumored Zombie Seige would allow mobs with these capabilities... when that didn't pan out I hoped the Endermen would do it.
Also, not sure if I agree with you on the Pearl idea...
It could be anything really. It's just that they'd have a plasible story line with pearls over other items. Whatever, this aggressiveness could be reserved for the most difficult setting in case people don't like repairing their shelters. OR... I don't know if you've seen the educational version of MC. It gives the teachers many more settings that the consumer version has. It has more checkmarks for options... like weather effects. Why not one for aggressiveness?
If I look at an enderman, I don't regret it.
If I look at one, I WANT TO FLAMING REGRET IT >:U
(even on easy.)
I wasn't referring to their current behavior... only a possible option for more agressive behavior. I just think it's bizarre that we can build shelters and there's no real threats to them as an incentive to build them better. Maybe some mob should be able to break windows, SOMETHING. Maybe skleton arrows could break glass. Right now they don't shoot even if I'm on the other side. I'd like to see zombies with picks chipping away at our defenses.
Endermen were made with the intent of increasing psychological tension. But since we control whether they attack, it undercuts that effect. I'd like to see them do more. I'm not saying they can kill us in our sleep... but to know our shelter is also not as safe as it was, also increases tension.
Endermen are annoying enough already, in my opinion, and the only reason I build forts and bunkers is to keep mobs out. In combat, yes, I agree they should be more formidible, but I don't exactly want them teleporting in my house and attacking me while I'm sorting my chest's contents.

That's easily solved by not letting them try to retrieve pearls if someone's there and awake...
I'd like to see the Endermen be able to dismantle a fort if they are attacking someone who looked at them. Right now they're too easy to defeat... build a quick 3-4 block high pillar and fight them from above.
I think it should work like this. Endermen are generally peaceful except when looked at.
Then, they won't hurt you in the overworld unless it is night. If you're sleeping, they still won't hurt you. Anyway, they would try to take back ender pearls, eyes of ender or dragon eggs whether in your chests or inventory. They will be able to pick up any block and only for the purpose of taking one of these things. Still being peaceful (and sneaky!) they will put it back to look as if they never came. A general defense like water over your chests will keep your ender items safe, but a 3-block-high ceiling won't work; they'll "mine" through.

I'm no longer active here since no one else seems to be.
Thanks!
