Superflat is great. But I suggest adding 2 new features to it.
1) Allow players to choose what material the terrain is made out of. So if you want a flat stone plain, or a flat wool plain, or a flat gold block plain, you can get that instead.
2) Allow players to select two different materials, and have those tiled on every other chunk. So for example, if you select stone and obisidian it'll create a map where chunks look like this (with each square being an entire chunk of several blocks):
This would be very useful for redstone engineers, since chunk boundaries can often affect how machines work.
sounds cool to me but there is allready software you can do this with if you look in the mods section
i know but its also nice to have a vainilla way to get it and also not many people have computers good enought to like mcedit a world and give themselves a huge area with thos requirements
It's more important to let people choose the depth of the map than fancy chunk tiling. Chunk tiling should be a mod, because it has nothing to help the average player.
I agree with FireHawkDelta, I don't use the superflat type because it is simply too low down. Personally I think there should be a superflat option as well as a flat option (around 65).
Agreed. I would like there to be a superflat option with the ground at sea level, and beneath 1 layer of grass and 2 of dirt have solid stone down to bedrock.

With the current superflat you can't make very much underground. So I agree.

Checkerboard seems kinda complicated.

There's a difference between a hero and a champion. A champion overcomes threats, but a hero overcomes fears.

Then there's also a Youtube channel I'm somewhat involved in.
