I always thought minecraft was the most fun in alpha when everything was a challange and you couldn't just build a mansion and get 100 diamonds in the first 2 hours you play. Now I remember why it's not like that anymore, not only have I learned so many tricks, but the game has been made much easier. Not to mention i've lost all motivation to explore because, i know what to expect, like villages, mountains, trees, or swamps. Now now before you say "ooh get mods" Mods have been one of the reasons i continued to play, because when you get mods you don't know everything, your not sure what to expect. However mods are not minecraft itself, minecraft itself is what needs to improve.
This is how I think it can improve, remove charcoal, make beds way harder to make, make iron 3x more rare, make diamond 4x more rare, make coal 4x more rare. All tools except swords & hoes should increase in breaking speed and decrease in duribality. I never understood why things needed to take so long to break? a little bit to add a difference in materials, but i mean things like obsidian take wall too long to break, and that doesn't make the game more fun. Another thing is that mobs have too little health and not a long enough range, so i can kill them before they kill me with my fist. Mob animations are also dull and the way spiders clime is just stupid lol I think they can probably go for a better use for gold than what it currently has, maybe something to do with the npcs *c0ugh* trade *cOugh*. Now heres something intresteting they could do... Add houses with special npcs all over the map, make like 30 so people could be searching for a while, each could have an intresting purpose, and maybe they have special things they need you to do like quests, since minecraft is leaning rpg.
Another thing i was unsure about was the new food system... do you people like it or do you like the old one better?
That's all i can think of if you have anything that you thought shouldn't/should ^ be there comment...
I'm saying suggestions area of the forums.
I'm also saying that those suggestions are very good :smile.gif:
You could request a mod that does JUST that...
i only have two things to say:
are you sure its not just nostalgia?
And my only complaint of the 1.5 and above is that you don't feel alone, it was nice to feel like the only one on the planet. but with the abandon mines, strongholds, and especially npc villages you feel unimportant and less survival approach. but i still love minecraft
I always thought minecraft was the most fun in alpha when everything was a challange and you couldn't just build a mansion and get 100 diamonds in the first 2 hours you play. You still can't, luckily.
Now I remember why it's not like that anymore, not only have I learned so many tricks, but the game has been made much easier. Not to mention i've lost all motivation to explore because, i know what to expect, like villages, mountains, trees, or swamps. I never know what to expect. And the examples you listed are the equivalent of saying "Oo, I know what to expect; stone, dirt, and water."
Now now before you say "ooh get mods" Mods have been one of the reasons i continued to play, because when you get mods you don't know everything, your not sure what to expect. However mods are not minecraft itself, minecraft itself is what needs to improve.
This is how I think it can improve,
remove charcoal, Are you nuts? I barely have enough coal to cook a porkchop! Charcoal provides so many people with a renewable fuel source.
make beds way harder to make, You can't sleep if mobs are nearby, due to the "constant moaning". Stop going to bed at the start of dusk, or maybe don't even go to bed at all. It's not like you're forced to sleep if you don't want to.
make iron 3x more rare, Considering that without some way of exposing them; caves, strongholds, mineshafts, they almost never come within your digging range, I'm pretty sure they're rare. Furthermore, you can turn off the aforementioned structures.
make diamond 4x more rare, I wish I've gotten more than one vein of diamond larger than two or three diamonds in my life.
make coal 4x more rare. Same with charcoal, it provides fuel for so many projects. Why take that away?
All tools except swords & hoes should increase in breaking speed and decrease in duribality. "Hard" does not mean "screw people over" Many people would love to see durability increased, you want to give them an actual reason to complain.
I never understood why things needed to take so long to break? a little bit to add a difference in materials, but i mean things like obsidian take wall too long to break, and that doesn't make the game more fun. Not a lot of things take extremely long to break. In fact, the only thing taking a really long time is obsidian, and that's because it's blast resistant and meant to be strong (for fortresses, ect.)
Another thing is that mobs have too little health and not a long enough range, so i can kill them before they kill me with my fist. Stop playing on easy; try hard or hardcore. Furthermore, all you seem to be talking about is zombies and regular spiders, because skeletons, endermen, creepers, and cave spiders are all longer-ranged and/or harder in some way.
Mob animations are also dull and the way spiders climb is just stupid lol I agree, more animations, but the spider climb is not stupid. How is it stupid? The spider is climbing! What do you want it to do, dance the waltz up the wall?
I think they can probably go for a better use for gold than what it currently has, maybe something to do with the npcs *c0ugh* trade *cOugh*. Obviously, but NPCs aren't done yet, are they?
Now heres something intresteting they could do... Add houses with special npcs all over the map, make like 30 so people could be searching for a while, each could have an intresting purpose, and maybe they have special things they need you to do like quests, since minecraft is leaning rpg. Hell no it isn't! It's not even close to an RPG! It's as far away from an RPG as you can get! And it doesn't need to come any closer.
That's all i can think of if you have anything that you thought shouldn't/should ^ be there comment...
I think the game should stay the same. However, a better way to make the game harder would be to just improve the AI of hostile mobs. That is the best way to make a game harder.

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
The game was never that hard and it shouldn't ever be that hard. It's already too tedious as it is. Finding iron shouldn't become an hour long task.
