I've been thinking a lot about all of the amazing things that can come from potion brewing. Here are some of the ideas I had for new potions.
-incendiary potion: Causes the user to catch on fire and if used as a splash potion ignites blocks and mobs in a small radius.
-slow fall potion: Causes the user to fall slowly (or at least take 0 fall damage) for a set time period.
-radiance potion: Causes the user to light up the area around them like a light source or when thrown causes the hit area to stay lit up for a set amount of time.
-wind potion: used to balance the destructive incendiary potion, creates an AoE that puts out all fire in the target radius. Drinking it increases the user's jump height.
-potion of water breathing: drinking causes the user to breathe underwater for set amount of time.
-invisibility potion: Makes the user invisible and will not be pursued by mobs for a set amount of time. If the user attacks or takes damage, the affect is broken.
-stoneskin potion: causes the user to take less damage from physical attacks for a set time period.
Tell me your thoughts on these suggestions and what potion ideas you have.
Splash Potion lights a large area on fire for 3 seconds, consumption sets you on a fire that creates a path of flames where-ever you walk (Lasts extremely short)
Potion of Accuracy
Consumption lets you achieve a homing arrow attack with a bow, splash does this in a group.
Night vision potion: Allows the user to see see at night and slightly highlights mobs.
Vengeance potion: Enemies who attack the user will suffer damage in return (like 50% or so?)
Potion of stealth: Hostile mobs will not be able to detect you from as far as they normally would. Makes the user slightly transparent but still very visible.
If I helped in any way, don't click that little green +, instead tell me how much you liked the post. (Only those who are incapable of earning rep the hard way have to beg for it in their signatures).

Think it would be possible to alter the effects depending on weather or not it was drunk or thrown? Something like: the incendiary potion setting the person on fire and having him damage any mob that touches him.
Slow would slow player or enemies moment.
Use wind to slow players fall. Give them the ability to glide a bit.
- Incendiary potion (should be brewed with a blaze rod)
- Invisibility potion (brewed with an eye of Ender, makes you and your name have 0.1 visibility)
- Jump potion (brewed with a feather, makes you jump twice as high, allows you to fall further without taking damage)
- Blindness potion (brewed with ink sac, squids should be neutral, if you attack them they will attack back but instead of damaging you they will give you short term blindness and then go away)
- Stone skin potion (halves the amount of damage you take, brewed with iron ore)
- Bomb (creates explosion with the force of a creeper, brewed with TNT, is brewed with netherwart but it looks like a medieval grenade)
I think A good way to triple the amount of potions brew able wold be to put milk and lava in the cauldron and by extenuation the bottles as to brew with them. milk = powerful healing or positive effects.
water = neutral effects. and lava = powerful negative or destructive effects.
I was able to master brewing fairly quickly due to the simplicity of brewing.
for the benefit of such master brewers the ability to stack potions wold be invaluable, for they take up a lot of space!
I hope to see explosive potions, flying potions, mob detection potions, mineral detection potions, bait potions (a use for rotten flesh), size enhancing potions, and the rare elixir.

I like the idea of an explosive potion. I'd been hoping Jeb or Notch would add some kind of throwing explosive, like one sand and one gunpowder makes a stick or two of dynamite.
instead of water breathing you could have one that makes underwater just like above water for a set amount of time. Allowing you to mine, jump, walk, sprint and place blocks as normal.

'Far over the Misty Mountains cold, to dungeons deep and caverns old,
We must away, ere break of day, to seek our pale enchanted gold.'
Man potion ideas are the opposite of potions we already have or were also suggested, the incendiary potion should be potion of fire resistance + fermented spider eye, since fermented spider eyes invert potions. Common suggestion: An ink sac makes a potion of blindness. I think the blindness potion could be inverted into a potion of vision, which boosts bow acuracy and gives night vision.
Water breathing effects:
Normal: 3 minutes of tripled water time
Redstone: 8 minutes of doubled water time
Glowstone: one minute of 5x water time
