The first part of the idea is a mob mask. A mob mask is essentially a mask with the face of a mob on it. When it is worn on your helmet slot, your character model is visually changed into the mob represented by your mask. In the inventory screen, you would be wearing your ordinary skin, but to others, and when in third person mode, the mob is seen. You would not get any abilities, nor would your hitbox change, but the mob whose mask you are wearing will not attack you, or in the case of passive mobs, will not run away when hit. The masks would probably include an item dropped by a mob, so mobs without proper drops would not be wearable. This means noe Testificate, no Enderdragon, no Silverfish, and no wolves.
The next part of this idea is armour. Using mob drops, you can craft armour with different abilities. Armour restrictions are the same as mob mask restrictions. None of the above mobs will have armour. When wearing a mob armour, it will have the same effect as the mask, but with added mob type benefits. Benefits are as follows:
Snow Golem-Snow trail
Chicken-Less fall damage
Pig-Instead of a pig model, a Deadpool meat suit!
Sheep-Randomly obtain wool when breaking tall grass
Squid-Faster swimming
Enderman-No damage when using Enderpearl
Pigman-Fire resistance
Blaze-Fire resistance
Spider-Higher jump
Creeper-Explosive resistance, explode upon death
Ghast-Explosive resistance
Magma Cube-Fire resistance
Skeleton-Farther shooting
Slime-Higher jump
Zombie-Health regeneration
Personally, I believe that only one of these should be implemented, and that the masks alone would be a great addition. Maybe the masks with the mob benefits would be fine. You guys decide. Feedback and support appreciated.
I thank you for all the gusta. And here I was starting to think it was a stupid idea.
And now come haters and trolls because I jinxed myself with that line.
I'd probably change the Zombie to not getting food poisoning instead. Otherwise it seems like a pretty interesting idea. At least abilitywise, I wouldn't suggest making you actually look like the creature, maybe you can wear armour that makes you look close to them and even actually look like a zombie, but otherwise don't make it you can look like a little chicken.
I also think it would be cool if the spider ability allowed you to climb anything like they did, but its fine to not have that.
Looking like a mob is mostly for aesthetic purposes. It would just be a fun thing to do. Though a more practical approach would maybe the player with a mask of the mobs face with a little string wrapping around their head. It would still look cool, and the mask would still give abilities.

That.

And no, it's not 'cause you jinxed yourself.
