After hearing jeb was thinking about adding jungle specific mobs, I decided to come up with my own mob ideas. First off, the only one I can show what it might look like, is a Native. Basically it's a jungle equivalent of a villager.
and here's a close up:
Other Jungle Mob ideas include a Fly, and Snake. Fly's would be cool, because, 1. we need more flying mobs, and 2. We need more things to use the bane of arthropods on. Snakes could be in both jungles and swamps, and maybe even deserts. I was going to model how they should look, but I couldn't get blender to work. Just imagine a blocky fly and snake. Any feedback on ideas is appreciated. Oh, btw, I made the native skin myself, so yeah...
Dude this is awesome! I hope Jens looks into this!
Yeah.. I was thinking about suggesting the idea to him on twitter, but I never got around to it. So I thought I'd see what the community though first. Thanks for the feedback!
Why not a mosquito? That would be more logical to have in a jungle. Maybe flies too, but mosquitos are what first comes to my mind. And I like the natives idea.

Hmm, idk why mosquito didn't come to me first, they do seem to fit more. Maybe I was thinking more about passive mobs. A mosquito would be a cool aggressive jungle mob.
They are very nice, although there are two problems:
- The arms should still be connected, but wrapped in leaves.
- Villagers don't have hair.
I was thinking about ways for their arms to still be crossed, but I decided to leave them like that. And about the hair, maybe all the humidity from jungles caused it to grow? Eh, I think they look better with hair anyways, oh well. Thanks for the feedback!
Somewhere else I posted about elephants, tigers and bees but Mosquitos sound cool to and snakes sounds just as cool.
I hope that some of the people that deside the mob read this thread to.
I think we should wait for the AI to come out; my main problem is that if, for some reason, villagers sell generically (I.E, you can buy trees in a desert village or whatever) it doesn't work if they add biome-specific villagers.
No, believe me, it's a good idea, I just think we should wait a bit.
Also, the fact that villagers will currently walk off cliffs for no particular reason.

Yeah, the AI should be perfected before any other villager types are added. Speaking of villagers walking off cliffs, a few of them did fall while taking the screenshot. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, it would be cool if jeb or someone saw this thread and implemented some of the ideas. Hmm, if elephants were implemented, they could be another ride-able mob.
I like the natives idea. I think they should become hostile if you attack them and use a bow and arrow (like a skeleton) when hostile.
Them attacking with a bow would be cool. Funny, earlier I was playing around with them, and I threw a bow down expecting him to pick it up. Maybe spears could also be implemented? They could act like a sword, or a retrievable projectile.
If he does make a Native they should have poison darts like a blow datr tube that gives you poison when hit and NPC Villages that some are Ruins and Some our InHabbited by The natives Nice idea

Yeah. It would be nice to have different types of villagers, and Natives along with ruins would add a lot to jungles.
Your ideas are awesome! but you should call the natives pygmies:P and your village looks slightly derpy on top of the trees. I built a bunch of houses around the trunks of trees (think ewok village) and it looked really cool. Snake would be totally AMAZING. and fly, we need flying mobs!!! Great ideas all around

Yeah, the village was a bit rushed. I've only worked with a treetop village once before this, and that one is a lot nicer looking. I guess I tried to make them look like shacks, since the villagers aren't very good at building anyways. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! The skin did take a while to make.

Thanks! It did take quite a while to make it look how I wanted it.

Yeah, tigers would be cool. Seeing a giant mosquito flying after you trying to suck your blood might be scary at first, but it's still a fun idea.

Seriously, I don't care if they wouldn't have much more purpose than the regular villagers. Those guys are just too darn adorable not to be added.

Yes it will. After the villager AI is added, maybe they can be a different type of villager.

The monkey looks kinda cool. I'd love to see it jumping from tree to tree.
