All right, I've used search, and I haven't found a topic regarding biome improvements that include all of the biomes that I want to address here.
Tundra/Snow
Right now it is basically grassland with snow and a couple of trees. I proposed that we get ice-capped mountains that reach y=120. Not extreme hill type mountains, these should be con-shaped, regular mountains with ice caps. 1/100 of times there will be an ice maze inside the mountain with an entrance to a stronghold.
Jungle
Right now there are big 2x2 trees and regular oak trees on hilly terrain. It is a great biome, but it could use a lot of improvement. There should be big waterfalls. There are three ways to make this happen. Either (1) there can be cave with a lake on top of a mountain, (2) an elevated river, or (3) a mixture of both. Solution number 2 is much more difficult to achieve because you would have to change how water spawns. Right now, water will only spawn naturally below sea level (y=64 or something close to it). Water should spawn differently, with flowing rivers and varied height levels, to make big waterfalls possible. Behind those waterfalls there should be a chance for for a dungeon to spawn. Jungles should also have a much higher spawn rate of ravines.
Swamps
Oh god where do I begin. Ok, first, a swamp is basically very flat grassland with more trees and different color plants. And they have vines. The first thing that can be improved is that swamp trees need to be different. My suggestion is to have them have roots (inspired by the Twilight Forest mod). The dirt of the swamp should also be changed. There should be a new block that is like soulsand, let's call it Swamp Mud for now. It will spawn in patches, like how clay spawns in our current terrain generator. You can dig up Swamp Mud only with a shovel. Punching it will not drop anything. It is also subjected to gravity. There should also be a higher spawn rate of strongholds and dungeons with actual entrances for them, covered in vines. Lilypads should have varied sizes (inspired by a mod I saw), from 1x1 to 3x3.
Underwater (not really a biome, not to be confused with Ocean)
Right now there are circular patches of clay, sand, and dirt all over the ocean floor. Now although it does provide a lot of clay, circular patches just make it messy. It would be much better to replace the patches with "strips" of clay and dirt on a sand ocean floor. Same amount of clay, just distributed in a different way.
Forest
In our current forest it is basically a mixture of birch and oak trees. Nothing special apart from occasional big oak trees. 1/10 forest biomes should have a massive tree in the middle of them. This idea is similar to what I suggested for the snow/tundra biome, basically a big structure with a chance of a stronghold entrance to it. There should be patches where regular trees should be at least 2 blocks taller and much closer together. In these dense parts of the forest there should be a chance for a dungeon entrance to spawn, like in a swamp. In forests, there should also be fallen trees. This will also lead to sideways logs (dammit, why hasn't this been implemented?). Placing a log would be like placing a piston. The swirly side (not sure what it is called) would face you.
I will write more soon, and I will also upload concept pictures soon. Please leave feedback and make suggestions for things you feel aren't good.
Disagree with waterfall idea, makes them look to messy. But you could change mob spawning rates to quadruple to make the jungle fell more junglish perhaps?

My suggestions are aimed at terrain generation only.
When you suggest 'swamp mud', do you mean that it will slow you down like soulsand? If so then I completely disagree with you. People (like me) like to build in swamps, and being slowed down by the very ground they walk on would be annoying as hell.

You'll be a happier person if you're miserable all the time.

Thank you for mentioning that. I did not realize how annoying it would be to have speed reducing ground everywhere. I think it will be better as patches.

This idea I like. I think it would be really cool if the sand (beaches and around lakes) in swamps was replaced with the mud, making it seem more 'swampy' around water.
