The dragon does 5 hearts of damage on hard, the same as an enderman. It fleets if you hit it once, and its attacks are very slow and easy to dodge. The endermen are the real problem when going to the End, and you can just log off if one gets mad at you. I sat there for a while just hitting the dragon with a stone sword every time it swooped and eventually killed it, taking no damage.
The dragon needs more attack power (maybe 10) and some other kind of attack. Maybe it can shoot fast fireballs all over the place and swoop if it can't hit you with them, and that is the moment when you hit it.
Also, I think the fountain it spawns should also kill the endermen in a certain radius. I got the XP then immediately died because an enderman attacked me for no reason.
I do agree with some... Rather than 10 damage. Maybe it can fly over head and spray at you with those fireballs.
Plus the fireballs should not be deflectable.
I toiled away at the iron mines to create for me a shining suit of armor.
I went deep underground to mine obsidian for an enchantment table and studied the arcane arts, the magic thereof I imbued into my armor and weapons.
I ventured deep into the Nether and fought with my life the guardians of an ancient demonic fortress, and harvested their magical exoskeleton.
I used said rods to create brewing stands to boil a multitude of tremendously powerful healing concoctions.
I slayed more Endermen than I could count, and held extra pearls with me in case I needed to teleport.
I activated the magic of the Ender Pearls, which led me to the stronghold of the Ancients.
I dug a hole into the ruins and hopped inside the portal, expecting a battle of epic proportions to cleanse the evil of the world and take me back to the home I once knew, a land before I woke up and found myself stranded on the beach and had to survive...
And for what?
I find myself in a COMPLETELY silent world, filled with Endermen and obsidian towers standing on floating cheese, and in the distance was a black dragon. The big moment, right? WRONG. I go and knock out all the towers, and the dragon begins to lunge at me. I'm wearing armor, so it would seem that the dragon merely snuggled with me. Yeah, I think that's what it was doing. Poor lonely thing in a silent scary world just wanted to snuggle. The whole time I felt like I was murdering the thing. Poor guy.
...
So yeah...let's buff the enderdragon and get that thing off my conscience.
Well said. That's exactly what I was thinking. The thing, when it charged at me, was just letting me slice its head. It never even hit me. I was not wearing any armor, and it was no problem.
Since mob AI is getting overhauled I'm hoping they'll eventually do some work on the Enderdragon, it would be cool if it were more aggressive and more effective, it's only ever managed to kill me by firing me off into the void with it's crazy knockback power. Projectiles would be an awesome start, although exploding projectiles would be a mistake I think, as they would rapidly destroy the landmass you spawn on which I would find more annoying than challenging.

You spawn on obsidian, and I think it rebuilds the spawn platform every time. We put a chest on the obsidian spawn once. When I came into the End, the chest disappeared.
I made a suuggestion in my thread THE CREEP, the boss has 4x the health fo the dragon and spits tnt at you making it alot harder! do you think this would work instead of making enderdrago harder?

It might just have been the dragon passing through the chest and destroying it, I don't think the platform respawns each time. It isn't so much about the platform as it is the rest of the landmass, all of that getting destroyed would be awfully annoying. I don't know what the blast resistance of endstone is, but if it's high enough to withstand ghast rounds I suppose they would be an option.

The blast resistance of end stone is higher than cobble, but not quite as high as obsidian or liquids.

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.

Ghast fireballs could work really well then, especially if it starts firing three at a time like blazes once all most of the endercrystals are destroyed. Might be a mistake to make it possible to deflect them, as that would seriously undermine the effectiveness of it's strafing runs. If it could do this there probably wouldn't even need to be endermen all over the place.

Ghast fireballs also don't break cobble, brick, iron blocks, etc. I don't know if they even break stone. I've only ever seen them breaking netherrack, grass, sand, gravel, wood, glass, etc.

Not very likely. My friend was sitting there when I came in. He didn't get any damage or see the dragon, but he saw the chest disappear at the precise moment I came in. I can try it again, though.

It can. However, it usually glitches and doesn't actually hurt you at all. I've been hurt 1/5 of the times it hit me.

No, because that's the Creep, not the End.
