Explain. "Expansion" can mean anything from "Make it blue" to "I want every item in your inventory to appear at the bottom of the screen."
Sorry, ill make myself clear. I meant add more slots for items. But also maybe they could have predetermined sets of items that would appear in the hot bar, like Redstone stuff or tools or other sets of things. And maybe there could be customizable sets too.
Meh, I think it's as good as is. Besides, it already has 10 slots for the 10 numbers. 0-9. I guess you can find ways around it, but I like it that way.

actually it has 9 slots, I think it would be nice if they added one for zero, as I keep hitting it instead of nine when trying to select the item at the end of the right hand side, because they appear to be located in the same place, relative to me.
most of it is meh, but i sooorta like the idea of some type of equipable belt or something, that adds like 3 slots for redstone (and redstone related items ( Rtorchs, repeaters, etc.)), or something. lol
Notch, way back when JAVA was considered a competent game development environment, The at-the-time lead-developer-now-known-as-lead-vacationer Notch created a system where a player could easily press from 1 to 9 to access any item in your hotbar.
This was a major advancement over the right-click-to-choose system of survival test. Anymore, it has become precedent, and there is really no reason to change the system as the hotbar now conforms to the inventory system (or is that the other way around), and to add more hotbars (like the elusive 0,-, and +) would make the bar look funny in comparison to the rest of the inventory.
Of course, the obvious solution is to simply increase the size of the inventory to compensate, but I counter such a proposal with a bit of sound wisdom: That would be a bad idea like throwing gasoline onto a fire.

Maybe add a jacuzzi and a stripper pole...Wait, wrong hotbar,
I don't think the current hotbar should be changed at all. It's easy and convenient.
You can try to pick it up and it will burn your hands.Ok, enough with the hot bar jokes.
You can easily access all of the items via the 1-9 keys at the top of the keyboard.
Overall, why fix what ain't broken?
