I think Creative mode should have many more tools added to it.
I'd like to have a Creative mode where you can really be "creative." I don't want to have to download SPC, TMI, and MCEdit to build to my heart's content. And yes, I know how easy they are to get and use (for the most part). There are still quite a few out there who don't though, and having a better testing mode would be sooo great.
I use a creative map to test builds before I put them in my survival map, but somethings just take a ton of coordination and planning.
Anyway, that's enough rambling. There are a few things that need to be added to creative.
Ability to switch between Creative/Survival
All items available (portals blocks, etc.)
Mass editing tools (MCEdit style)
Control of time/weather (or just add server commands)
Ability to change spawners
Or, just make a new gamemode called "Test."
As for the MCEdit mass editing, I think it should be toggle-able. You start in the current game view now, playing as Steve, then when you toggle it on your view is changed into the MCEdit view. This will let you work on the smaller things that need more detail and also allow you to switch over and make the rough outline with mass editing.
The reason I started this is because it kept raining in my Creative world and I don't want to put on SPC simply because I want to keep this .minecraft vanilla. Seriously, what's the point of rain in creative?!
Many people complain MCEdit is too hard to set up and/or use. Putting it in vanilla is jamming a very large amount of game files which will be unused by many, to say the least. Control of time, I agree. They had pressing F6 speed up the day/night cycle, I think that should be implemented for creative. You should not be able to switch. Too many people would just get themselves a chest full of a bunch of valuable materials in creative, then switch to survival. Placing portal blocks doesn't look good; I once placed on in a server, went through it, exited the Nether, and was lost...to say the least. Furthermore, the portal blocks are so small that they don't look good in maps.
