I think that when you go to bed in Minecraft it should start a dream sequence that lasts until morning. Currently the game only changes the time instead of passing it. In SMP beds are useless because everybody has to get into bed
Notch has said that he likes the idea of the Sky Dimension being a dream world. When you don't have regular dreams you would go to the Sky Dimension, which would be like other dreams but more lucid. You could also destroy and place blocks. Items are not to be taken into or out of dreams, so it would be like having two worlds!
If you die in a dream you would wake up in the Overworld.
I think dreams should be randomly generated, like you spawn on a random area (with limits, to reduce lag), with random items, and you would just waste time until morning there. The dream (sky) dimension would have a 1/16 chance of happening every night.

I am decent at Lua and Python, and am an expert with C, C+, HTML, Java, Javascript, and redstone. Gotta love redstone.
I always thought it would be neat if you could eat mushrooms, go to sleep, and wake up in a Wonderland type dimension with some NES Little Nemo inspiration thrown in.

I actually like this. Think about it: You use a bed in order to skip over the boring in your opinion night. Why not have some fun in the process when you would be bored without a bed anyway? And to wake up, all you do is kill yourself in the dream.

Uh, because its totally awesome! :laugh.gif:
There is no purpose other than to possibly get killed in your sleep. It is a waiting game, at best.
