I have been thinking of a new way to transmit power, one without using hundreds of redstone. It is.... a satalite! A satalite would be able to transmit power over at least 20 spaces, and, most importantly could carry a charge that is stronger than a redstone torch could produce. For example, three tansmitters, each transmitting the power of a redstone torch, and one reciever. The satalite could also have a way to set it to recieve or transmit, it can't do both at the same time. A new device that could use more power than a single redstone torch could provide could also then be made. Also, when you have a satalite, in order to make sure it powers ony what You want it to you could take a satalite and a dye(any color)and make an(any color) satalite that only transmits/recieves from the same color satalite.
A non-dyed satalite is white.
P.S. I believe that the most interesting device that the satalite could power would be the item multiplication system. This device could, for a hefty price, multiply any item you want. It would be made of at least 24 satalites transmitting the power of a redstone torch, plus four 'scanners,' 4 recieving satalites, and a generator. they would be arranged as so: (1 = transmitting satalite, 2 = transmitting satalite blue, 3 = transmitting satalite yellow, 4 = transmitting satalite red, 5 = recieving satalite, 6 = recieving satalite blue, 7 = recieving satalite yellow, 8 = recieving satalite red, 9 = scanner, 0 = generator, a + = a redstone wire, and a * = nothing in that space.) (power travels through satalites, scanners, and generators the same as redstone wire.)

if the device is not set up in this general pattern it will not work.
To use: place an object in each scanner. it must be the same object in each. next, turn on all transmitting satalites. third, turn on generator. NOTE: the items in the scanners will cease to exist. the device will drain, yes, drain, the redstone torches powering the device. you will lose them. however, the scanned items will be found in the generator. the more redstone torches you add, the more duplicates you will get. this setup generates 4 of the items it scans, so you gain nothing. if you add a transmitting satalite of each kind, you will get 5 items, 2 transmiters of each kind gives you 6 items, 3 transmitters is 7 items, and so on. plus is you have (four plus a multiple of nine) of the extra items you make and they are either diamond, gold, lapis lazili or iron, it will give you the (multiple of nine) items as a block of said material. in order to use again simply replace the now non-existent redstone torches that power the satalites.
Massive lag is already a part of major redstone projects, and this increases the lag by...about 20-50 times? Redstone is better the way it is, although it still needs a few tweaks here and there...
So to satellites and the rest: No, just no.

I am decent at Lua and Python, and am an expert with C, C+, HTML, Java, Javascript, and redstone. Gotta love redstone.
At least think about the satalite. by itself it stops lag because you only need 2 for a distance of up to 20 or so blocks with no redstone in between, not the 20 redstone plus a repeater otherwise needed. the duplicator was just a side thought. although it would be nice to have somthing than can use/create more power than a redstone torch.

Redstone itself, unless there's massive amounts of it, are not the source of the lag. It's the coding. The satellite would require a bit of complex coding, meaning that it would be good for simply opening a door, it would be quite a bit of lag, not to mention more complex design for a 'Jeb' door. I can't even imagine what SMP would be like...

Or you could just be smart enough to make up your OWN air signal.
It's not hard you know. All you need is a dispenser, a painting, a wooden pressure plate and your output. That's it. You can also put a fire under the pressure-plate and make the dispenser fire ONTO the pressure plate, but that is a bit harder.

Ah yes, the classic 'fire arrow at painting and have it break and fall on a pressure plate.' The only problem that there is, is that you have reload it. They should have the bow enchantment 'Infitity' for dispenser, and have it only work for firing arrows, so no cheaters get free stuff.

What do you mean 'a charge stronger than a Redstone torch could produce?' Redstone is simply on - off, 0's and 1's. Your making the entire thing way to complicated.

I think having something with a hyper-on-off would be fun. hyper mode mabye needs 2x the power.I don't want anything with too much power, just something different from the boring old 'on-off.'

That would require a massive, incredibly lag-inducing rework of how redstone works. The only way I can think for that to even be possible is for every redstone wire block to track every power source feeding into it, and I'm not even sure if that would be possible, not to mention that if it was then it would no doubt be absolute murder on framerate.
It would also add nothing of value to redstone, because "hyper-mode" mechanisms would still run just as infinitely if you put two levers by them, or just one to make it work like any other mechanism. A similar functionality can also be applied to any current redstone activated mechanism with a simple And gate.
As far as I'm concerned, there is absolutely no reason for such a feature to be implemented.

I can by all means understand this.
But seriously, a satellite would be cool, if inevitably incomprehensible to me.
