"Skool 'n minekraft, I dun wan skool n minecraft u r crazi", this is probably what some of you are thinking.
But think of it as a tutorial for newer players to teach them some of the ropes of the game, an in game tutorial for Minecraft that could give basic tips and such. Tutorials should be toggable, so us experienced players who have been playing since like Alpha can just turn the feature off.
I remember when I first played Minecraft, all I knew was that I could build things, and that monsters came out at night. I knew nothing about crafting or even how to craft so my first game of minecraft was frustrating, but at the same time, a little fun. My little dirt hut in the forest had no lights and I had no tools at all until I figured out from somewhere (can't recall where) how to actually craft items. Before the only things I could really craft was the basics of basics like sticks.
Ok, still tutorials may be useless since you can just look up how to's on youtube or the wiki, but it never occurred to me as a new player. Tutorials would probably be mainly used by children, I was going to let my niece play minecraft on my older laptop, but I didn't feel like sitting around and walking her through how the world works (yeah, I am a bit lazy).
I am just throwing the idea out there, actually, my girlfriend thought of this. XD
Also, I would like to add the inclusion of hints and tips to the game as well, how these can be implemented, I haven't a clue at all. Give ideas, questions, concerns, etc.
Also, can someone out there make a signature for this suggestion? I would be very thankful. So thankful, I give thank you's in advance. Thank you.

Thanks!

When I started out, I managed to figure out how to make a door, a fence, a sword, a shovel and a pick axe.
The axe, the furnace(which for the life of me couldn't figure out because I assumed coal would be in the recipe), and armor I had problems with. Even the bow I wasn't sure how to make. I kept thinking about it in the wrong direction 3-dimenionally.
Sure! This'll work great!
Now all we need is a way to feed creepers cookies and make them flash REDBLUEREDBLUEREDBLUEREDBLUE, fart rainbows, and fly you to the moon!

Yeah, it may never be implemented...well unless we get enough following that is so that Jeb notices it!
Don't call it School! Minecraft is supposed to be fun, remember?

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
...
PM me when you fail in life.
All joking aside, the tutorial idea sounds great. Could just be a map, though.
you fail at life school is for losers I dont go to school irl because all the losers are there and Im hot, tutorials are boring why dont u make it like lava land
wow I dont show up for real school why should i show up to this
you people are crazy
I believe I may have referred to you in the first sentence of the first post.
Minecraft school is the equivalent of a tutorial in any other video game that teaches new players how to play, and how things in the world of Minecraft works. You do not have to go through a tutorial if you do not want to, if you read the first post at all, you would see that I specifically stated that it could be toggled off for those who are either familiar with minecraft already, or those who, like you, apparently have something against tutorials.
If you don't want to go through the tutorial, or do not want any helpful hints in game, just turn the feature off. Simple as that. I merely suggest that it be added since new players often have no idea at all what they are doing, how anything works, or even how to craft. I, as well as others had no idea at all how to play or anything when we first started playing Minecraft and a tutorial would have helped with becoming acquainted with the world.
Do you read, or do you just randomly comment on topic names?
Mode: Tutorial
What does it have? It just shows you how to do everything in the game.
Maybe even a help menu to check things too?
Considering there are so many noobs that don't understand potions or combat, this would be nice.
A help menu would be a pretty nice function, often times I forget how to make things such as pistons. Seriously. Earlier today it took me about 5-6 times to recall how to create a boat. I think there should be a help menu with information on things in the game so that it can be accessed easily and quickly while playing. Kinda like a pause menu.
It could show crafting recipes, but only those that you have previously crafted maybe? Because having all potion recipes at hand kinda takes the fun out of potion making. But the basic potions should be there, I agree.
And perhaps there could be information on blocks, mobs, and etc. Kinda like having an in-game Minecraft Wiki of some sorts, but of course not as expansive. So it would give basic information.
Some stuff could maybe be linked to in-game experience? Of course there shouldn't be information on the Enderdragon until you get face to face with it maybe. And Nether information should be unlocked after first going to the Nether perhaps?
Great idea. I had an idea--instead of just having a "Tutorial" option in addition to "Survival", "Hardcore", and "Creatiive", they could re-implement the failed "Play Tutorial Level" option in the main menu (remember that, guys?), or maybe as one of the options in the level selection screen.
You would spawn in a building, and you would go down a series of rooms with various things in each of them. Some ideas:
The first room is a fairly expansive room, and you spawn right in front of a set of signs that say "Welcome to Minecraft! Walk using the WASD keys, jump with Space, and look around with the mouse!" On the walls would be large windows that look out on a Minecraftian rain forest, complete with mountains. On the far side of the room is a door that has a sign next to it: "When you are finished, right-click on the door to open it."
So, you click on the door, and being a noob, fumble your way through it. On the other side is another room, with a tree standing in the middle on a block of dirt. More signs: "Now to mine blocks! Using your bare hands, left-click on the blocks of wood in middle of the tree until the block breaks, and collect the blocks that drop." So you would go over to the tree, left click on the blocks in the middle of the tree like the sign says, and you would collect the wood. Next to the door leading to the next chamber is a sign saying "That is how you start every Minecraft game. Keep the blocks--we'll be using them in the next room."
And so on. After tons of rooms gently guiding the n00bish player through the delicate artwork of crafting, fighting monsters, and harvesting animals, the final room has a sign saying "And now you're ready to play Minecraft! etc etc...". And there is a set of double doors, leading into the rainforest. It should be daytime, because one of the last rooms was a guide on how to use beds, including how to sleep in them; it would already be nighttime by the time the player reaches that point. They would go out the double doors, and start bashing trees with their bare hands.
How's that idea?

I'll tell you where I live--I live in Minecraftia. I won't tell you where I really live, though.

See, this is why I'm somewhat scared of bronies....... Screw Friendship, Friendshipw ith BENEFITS!
Anyways, this looks like a great idea.
I don't even.
Who are you talking to and why are you talking about a prostitute?
When i first started playing minecraft on indev, i didnt know what to do, what the controls are, etc. Full support.
The axe, the furnace(which for the life of me couldn't figure out because I assumed coal would be in the recipe), and armor I had problems with. Even the bow I wasn't sure how to make. I kept thinking about it in the wrong direction 3-dimenionally.

A map you say? Ah, yes a tutorial map. But how would a map teach a new player how to craft among other things?
Yeah, total naming fail on my part, should have called it Minecraft Tutorial and Tips maybe.
