You could place glowstone dust on the ground like redstone dust. It would be powered by a Glowstone block. It would make blocks glow while they are connected to charged glowstone wires.
Not really worth it at all. I like the idea of being able to turn glowstone on and off but if you have placeable glowstone powder it should do something else as well . . . aside from acting as a redstone wire that doesn't connect to redstone wire, if you get what i mean.
Already been suggested, as others have pointed out. Also, wow, I guess spending a lot of time on other forums conditions you to less posts that add no feedback or content to a thread...interesting transition to come back here.
