The sword should completely block arrows. When arrows are blocked, they fall to the ground and you take no damage. However though, this affects your sword durability. Your sword will lose 10 durability per arrow blocked.
Also, sword blocking should completely block damage, but of course, lose 10 less durability.
This would make PVP much more interesting, and make sword blocking actually have a point. Also, durability costs are very high because they block damage.
I thought 4 durability would sound insane to you guys and that it should be more than that, but alright. It'll be 4 for arrows, (because you'll get absolutely no damage from arrows) and 2 for other attacks. :smile.gif:
It should be more then 4 considering you're completely blocking it vs. taking half damage for no durability. I still prefer adding shields over any other method though but it seems Jeb doesn't have that in mind. lol

I ask you this; whats the point of shields when you can block with your sword?
I don't think it should completely block the damage from arrows. This would severely cripple the power of someone who likes to use primarily archery in PvP. All an enemy needs to have is a sword (which is... every non-archery player, not including servers with magic plugins/mods) and archery is rendered essentially useless. Plus, unless Steve is a jedi or something I doubt he would have the reflexes to block every single arrow.
Maybe 75% and no knockback, with the price of 4 dura? Or maybe a 50% chance of no damage?

I would prefer high durability price over random chances of no damage. Also, I highly doubt that Steve isn't a jedi. He can eat raw meat, he always has nails with him to craft planks, and he can create metal hammers and saws from just logs. :tongue.gif:
Also, arrow blocking would block damage, but not fire from these arrows. :smile.gif: So archery can still be effective, especially because the player would be too busy trying to find water instead of staying and blocking. XD

True, but I still think that a fully charged arrow should at least do something without having to rely on the environment. Maybe... it blocks all damage, but Steve gets stunned or something and can't block again for another 2 or 3 seconds? Lol I don't know, just think an arrow would be pretty difficult to completely block with just a sword :tongue.gif:
Edit: Also, considering non-PvP situations, Skeletons would become very easy since they shoot so slowly.

Its pretty difficult to conjure nails into existance as well. :smile.gif:
You don't need to rely on the enviroment -- I got the idea of flaming arrows from the new bow enchantments.
Perhaps instead of blocking arrows, you could hit them with a sword to break them. However though, arrows are awfully fast, so I'd prefer it if you parried them away instead :biggrin.gif:
I got an idea. You will be able to completely block damage with parries, but your sword will lose 10 durability.

That's pretty good, would discourage players from parrying arrows and they'd probably just try to run away from them instead, especially if they have some high level enchanted diamond sword that they don't want to go to waste :smile.gif:. Then again, they could just have a backup iron sword to parry with but having to switch weapons would still provide more of a challenge.
I think parrying with a sword would make sense if you're blocking another sword or maybe a zombie's hand but an arrow a shield would give you full coverage. Shields are meant to block, swords are meant to attack, I just think parrying should be removed from swords and placed on shields.

To be honest, it does block a whole load of damage.
