I mean yeah, you can hook it up to redstone with a pressure plate and all that jazz, but it is the most OBVIOUS trapdoor I have ever seen! How about it matches wood exactly? You know so, it has a use? Also it shouldn't be placed above blocks, but on the same level so it isn't as easy to see.
The texture should actually be a little different now that I think about it, so builders can recognize it, but otherwise should be pretty similar!
I agree, it should be called the 'Wooden Hatch', with the 'Iron Hatch' added. Because adventure maps aren't as fun when you can simply toggle the trapdoor. Feel free to quote this on the topic main post.

I am decent at Lua and Python, and am an expert with C, C+, HTML, Java, Javascript, and redstone. Gotta love redstone.
I'd like to see trap doors be flush with the floor (don't care so much about their look) so you could have a quick escape from an 2-block tall ender-shelter if you notice a creeper coming for you while in it. Hit the trap door door below your feet and fall through. Right now, you can't enter a 2-block tall space if there's a trap door in it. It raises you up too high.

Not quite understanding what you mean.
I am just looking in the perspective of PvP or Mob traps, like trapdoors not being as damn noticable as they are.

Why the hell is a trapdoor not a trapdoor?

No! I want a trapdoor that IS a trapdoor. Is that really too much to ask?
