Spawn as 1/128 of oak trees, leaf blocks have 1/10 chance to drop apples. Also has a new type of wood called Applewood that can be used to cook pork, creating "Applewood Bacon" that gives twice the effect of cooked pork. However, it takes 10 of these logs to cook a single item, so they the bacon is hard to obtain. The tree does not have a unique sapling, as it comes from Oak saplings.
1) Solves OP's problem.
2) Gives everyone else means of obtaining delicious bacon.

No support If oak trees would drop apples at a 1/10 chance then Theres basically NO use for pigs and other food stuff anymore you can just go ahead grab your axe chop a tree And THERE YA GO! Wood and food!
Pigs are useless already. No one I know eats pork anymore, because cows and chickens both give extra stuff in addition to meat. Even if apples are made more common, that won't make meat obsolete, because meat is still the better food source. I'd like apples to be common enough to get at least one every two trees. (There was also a very well thought out suggestion for apple leaves, but I can't find it anymore). It should really be the gold that's harder to obtain then the apples.
I agree with Wolfendoom. If aples become as common as 1/10, then why in the world would you need pigs? You wouldn't need ANY food, because when you go hungry, you just chop some wood and there you go, wood and food!
For the rarity of apples, they really don't do much. It's because they have a really low saturation level. So pigs would still be a more efficient source of food, no matter how common you make apples, because they satisfy you longer, meaning you have to take a lot less pork with you than you do apples.
So, yeah. I see your point, and I support. Apples are really only worthwhile in the earliest parts of the game, when you're still trying to survive and can't secure a more efficient source of food.
On their own, anyway. The effectiveness of golden apples is somewhat remedied by the rarity of gold in this hypothetical.

this will make apples drop more frequently ,BUT will at the same time drop how much hunger they give off to 1 hunger bar
if you dont want this dont drag the akt.class file to the minecraft.jar and only drag the up.class file
this will only make apples drop more frequently and change nothing else.
ENJOY

IT'S AN OAK TREE.
The apple probably didn't grow there.
