Made from only a piece of flint and two sticks in the arrangement above, is the Spear. It doesn't work in anyway similar to the sword, bow, or TNT weapon. To explain how to use the spear, here's some pictures. As they say, a picture is a 1000 words.
Hold your spear in your hand.
Right click and hold, then move your view over to the side.
Quickly swipe your view up and in front of you, then let go.
The *invisible* spear goes flying through the air.
-------------------------
As you can see, the Spear is thrown as if you are throwing a real spear (Sort of). Depending on how quick and where the "swipe" was done (Step 3 ^) affects the speed and angle of the thrown spear. Once let gone of, the spear will leave your inventory and become an entity. The spear is a powerful weapon, and will fly through mobs. It will stick to blocks it hits, similar to an arrow. The spear can be retrieved by right clicking with an empty hand. The spear will replace that empty inventory slot.
-------------------------
Pros:
The main pro of the spear is it's knockback. This can be extremely useful when knocking mobs off cliffs or ledges.
If a spear is stuck to the side of a block and it goes through a mob, that mob is skewered. It cannot move, and will receive damage until either it dies or the spear is removed. The mob cannot be pushed by water, other mobs, or other forces such as pistons when it is skewered.
The spear does damage.
Cons:
Getting the correct angle would be quite difficult, and you must retrieve it from the block it sticks to. This makes the handling hard, but it's worth it when you look at the cons.
Every time a spear sticks to a block, it gets damaged. It will eventually break, and this happens easily.
-------------------------
Do NOT say to use the search bar. I know this is a common suggestion, but there are none that include skewering or how to throw the spear.
It should probably do more damage, however, as that would be fairly underpowered.
I support.
The damage is to keep the skewering balanced. I mean, in a cave, you see a Creeper. You slam your spear right through the creeper, skewering it into the wall to die. Once it dies, collect it's EXP and drops. Retrieve your spear. :smile.gif:

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…

Obsidian, because ancient tribes used obsidian tips on their spears because it was a very sharp rock.
I agree +1
