Ok, back to the original topic. To make the new biome interesting, a special type of mob, called a drop creeper, could be introduced. When you walk psat a tree at night, a drop creeper drops on you. Functions the same as a normal creeper, except it only spawn on trees to drop on you.
Maybe, but they'd have to drop from a douglas fir because if they dropped from a redwood they'd have no chance of surviving. Also they could be a completely new mob instead of being a prefix mob, because there have been multiple records of creepers spawning on trees and dropping onto players.

No drop creepers are immune from fall damage so they can spawn on redwoods too.

But since redwoods are 40+ blocks tall (the tallest in the picture, the Cubosphere Giant being 58 blocks) they wouldn't spot you even if you're directly under. And if you're gonna say they have an infinite/really high sight distance, that would be overpowered.

They can just have 64 block player detection range. This way exploring a redwood area would interesting at night.
A: Fully Support, EXCEPT
B: I think they should be a little wider.
Like, 9 x 9 wide.
And the big ones are 13 x 13.
Just sayin'... Redwoods are HUGE in real life in comparison to a person.
The reason why I support this SO MUCH is because I made a world where I lived in the woods, and kept growing trees off of a huge tree and made a giant tree fort. Lol

Damn, is that Del Norte Titan or something? Anyways I do think they should be wider as well, but i did try several times , once with a 4x4 and another time with a 5x5. Both ended up looking more like Giant Sequoias than Coast Redwoods. But in comparison with real life, the tallest redwood i built ins 58 blocks tall and the tallest tree in real life is the coast redwood Hyperion at 115.55, meters, which translates to 115 blocks. So unless we build them on really low land, it's pretty much impossible to make a 115 block high redwood in minecraft. Because one this wide and minecraft-reasonably tall looks very out of proportion. And lol me too, the reason i made this thread is because i live about 1 hour away from a redwood grove, and i grew up with them all my life, so i would REALLY love to see this in a patch someday. Yes I am a redwood hugger, lol.

Try buildig a redwood forest 115 blocks tall and expereiment with 3x3,4x4 and 5x5. Use a player detector wire up to a dispenser to shoot creeper eggs down at you. BUild it in superflat so its tall enough.

I'll see what i can do about that, except 115 block high trees in a regular map would just, not work.
He was talking about the redwoods, not the creepers.

Mcedit a regular world and make it lower. BUild it over a plains biome that you copy paste and lower to y=10 or something. Rememeber to add drop creeper dispensers PLOX. I think the circuitry could fit within a 5x5 tree, so maybe halfway up so the creeper isnt killed by fall damage.
say, what are the odds of mojang stumbling across this and actually considering/implementing this?
Odds of jebns coming on this forum today, 1/10, then to the suggestions forum, 1/10 then to this thread, 1/10, oce they read the thread, 1/10000 of being imlemented.

I guess, but a 22 block or higher fall kills them.

Seriously, you want drop creepers to be 8x8 creepers? That means they have the explosive power of 64 tnt going off whe they drop on you.
............................ This a thread about Redwood Trees.
No im talking about my drop creepers idea, did you even read the thread?
