suggestion: pick up fired arrows.
how come you can't pick up 'fired' arrows (yes i know you can pick up dropped arrows) that the skeletons have shot and missed. you should be able to pull them out of the blocks. its kinda funny if you destroy the block it's stuck in, the arrow resumes it's deadly motion and sticks into the one below it.
There's obviously a code difference between skelly arrows and human arrows.
*shoot arrow at ground, pick it up*
*friend shoots arrow into ground, you still pick it up*
*skelly shoots arrow into ground, you can't pick it up*
Yes, I agree, human arrows should be able to be retrieved from walls.

There already is.
If you could retrieve skeleton arrows, you would have so many you wouldn't be able to count. :/
I think that Mojang should make skeleton arrows a different colour again so that in arrow fights you can distinguish between which arrow is which without having to walk on all the arrows.
In theory I agree, but this will break the gameplay unless some changes are done.
There are a few possible options:
1) Skeleton arrows have a 100% chance of breaking when hitting hard blocks like metal, a 90% chance of breaking when hitting stone, 80% chance of breaking when hitting dirt and wood, and a 70% chance of breaking against wool, sand and gravel.
This way you would only be able to retrieve a small portion of the arrows fired against you.
2) Limiting the number of arrows that each skeleton can fire to something like max 10 arrows for each skeleton, after the arrows are used up the skeleton should either charge you like a zombie or flee and de-spawn if that is possible.
3) Make skeletons better archers, skeletons will not fire unless they have a high chance of hitting their target and a clear line of sight. No more skeletons shooting in your general direction.
4) Make the player having to mine the block where the arrow is stuck to carefully excavate the arrow without damaging it (just yanking the arrow out would break the arrow head). If this is implemented it would take some effort from the player to gather the arrows instead of just simply walk close to the arrows.
But as it is right now the skeletons will just supply the player with too many arrows for this to be a good addition. We don't want to make minecraft that easy.

I would just make a sand wall next to a skeleton and wait. In time, a lot of free arrows are collectible.
putting a skeleton in a hole with one sand wall is really very little effort :3
really, i cuttently have like 10 stacks of arrows from the grinder, i just stoppet collecting them even when i miss. don't see no problem with that.

your not getting what he/she is saying.
you'd still have to get sand,
you'd still have to make a sand wall/grinder,
you'd still have to wait until night,
you'd still have to find skelly's,
you'd still have to watch out for other mobs,
you'd still have to make it out WITH the arrows ALIVE
now that may not be hard for you but its no cakewalk buddy.

I would not have a problem with that, after all you would have put in quite a bit of effort to make a arrow gathering machine then.
The thing I don't want is randomly picking up a few stacks of arrows after a short walk outside during the night.
