If these have been suggested already, I blame the forum's search function for not telling me. None of these would be considered "essential," just some construction flavor.
Mud Brick: Essentially just like Sandstone, but made of Dirt instead of Sand; probably "statistically equal," but easier to come by in non-desert biomes.
Wattle & Daub: Woven sticks covered in a mud-plaster, a Medieval European construction method; should go well with "Thatch," which I'm pretty sure has been suggested; statistically more fire-resistant (?) than wood, requires less wood to construct, and makes nice Medieval-looking walls, but otherwise weak construction material.
Well, what would its use be? I like the idea, but dirt already has no gravity, so you can already build roofs out of it. Is it just more creeperproof?
It could be more fireproof, bomb proof, griefer proof (longer destroying times), or, I don't know, if things ever get really complex in minecraft, it could provide more insulation to protect against cold weather.

Anyways, I support this. However, it seems like it's TOO easy. I know dirt is extremely common, but it seems like it would make setting up a house extremely easy.
How about 9 dirt blocks in the workbench = 4 mud bricks? The thatch recipe should also only give 1 thatch block... Or maybe thatch could be thin and work like glass panes?
Considering how easy it is to make a cobblestone house...

So let me get this straight, you basically said:
I support, even though dirt is easy to get, this would make making a house too easy.
So you're saying, making a house out of dirt is more difficult then making a house out of a lot of dirt? Huh?
That's like saying sandstone is op because it takes too much to make when in fact it's expending more resources just for looks.

Example:
That's kind of the point.
Sand is common in desert biomes, and you can make sandstone, dirt would be used to make mud bricks.
Haha. Still, it would be useful.

What if dirt could be combined with sand and clay to produce loam, or quality soil? Good for planting.
...No, no, on second thought, scratch that. There currently isn't enough of a farming component in this game to warrant that kind of thing.

maybe gravel instead, there's not enough uses for gravel, compared to dirt and sand.
I like that, already gravel is more blast-resistant then dirt and is rarer (only slightly).

To the op: yes yes, the more styles the better.
Man, I just flattened 200 square blocks, manually, and still have 7 stacks of the **** :tongue.gif:
