So while i was messing around with redstone an idea came to mind. Why can't you place glowstone dust. It would be pretty much the same as a powered redstone trail but it would be yellow and brighter. I think this is a relatively simple idea but could be used to create cool designs. Here's a quick example i came up with (not the best but should get the point across).
Just wanted to see if you guys agree with me on this one.
i allways use glow stone...i like to put the blokes of it in the ocean or ponds ...pluse i made a town with this

Yeah, as a light source. But what would be awesome is a craftable Neon Glass made by surrounding glass with glowstone dust in the crafting slot. It will not light up its surroundings but will be able to be seen as yellow.when powered. Then add a glowstone convertor that turns a redstone current into glowstone current, made by putting redstone dust and glowstone dust side by side in the crafting grid.

I haven't even bought MineCraft, I don't have the money...
That's a brilliant idea, very useful in itself. Would serve as a fancy late-game alternative to torches, especially if you could place it on the bottom of blocks.
I have an idea considering glowstone's "extending" effects of potions, how about if potions would 'extend' along glowstone trails.
IE: If a splash potion is thrown on a glowstone trail, any entity standing on the trail (within about 15 blocks, so that you can't kill hordes of zombies at once with a splash potion of healing (although many types of mob grinders already can do that) or something) will get the potion effect. The trail could probably flash to a higher light level when a potion hits it, for added pizzazz.
EG: There is a zombie standing on a glowstone trail. Further along said trail, I through a Splash Potion of Healing, so the Zombie takes damage like it would if the potion was used directly on it.
I told him on twitter

Yes.
I don't think Glowstone should have anything to do with redstone, of course that's my opinion.
That would be pretty neat for adventure maps too.

Very good idea,
You would still need glowstone blocks to make dust so they would not be TOTALLY useless
