As I'm pretty sure all of you can read, you can understand the suggestion. We need some fish desperately, I'm tired of diving into water, just to find it empty except for the herp a derp squids.
We need variety Jeb! Fish, colorful even in real life, would be a perfect thing to add in the future. Finally we now will know, if a fish is about to bite our bait, or of course we could just skip that and use some arrows to destroy them!
Of course, fish are fast and difficult to shoot. Even in Mythbusters, the saying "Like a fish in a barrel" made no sense, as it was extremely difficult to hit the fish. This addition would be something like that, when you are trying to shoot a fish with a bow, it can move quickly and is very small. As long as you don't frighten it, and creep up on it, you have dinner.
Fish also would vary in size, shape, and color. Unlike any other mob before, you wouldn't see the same fish over and over again, as that would be boring.
Thoughts? Comments? Dislikes? All are appreciated. :biggrin.gif:
Well, entity fish goes really well with my cat idea.
Fish would swim fast, jolty, and randomly like a chicken moves. Would be inefficient energy-wise to get them 'by hand'(w/o rod). The rod fishing would catch so-called imaginary fish.
If you tame a bobcat it could catch entity fish for you, eventually you could have a fish farm using them. This is another suggestion but it fits perfectly with yours.

Oh yeah I saw that suggestion, that was really good xD
And yeah, the two suggestions fit almost perfectly! A fish farm actually sounds really cool, I've never thought of one. This would also make it so you can't cheat death, and just make a 5x5 pool in your house to get fish from. They actually need to have fish in them..
However that leads to the point. Should we be able to breed fish to a degree? Or do they eventually lay eggs that we can either eat or wait for a baby to come out?

Who knows :smile.gif:
I have an even better idea in regards to food balance:
You catch entity fish with a rod(they would attract to it like wheat) this would prevent someone from making a couple of rods(like now) and having tons of easy food from it even if it only takes a little while.
The bobcat would jump in the water, pretend to swim and jump around a little and a random dead fish would pop out occasionally.
Maybe have a max amount of cats you can befriend or cats fight if they are too packed to avoid extreme abuse?

I like that idea. Maybe cats fight eachother all the time so the real challenge, is making them seperate parts of the farm. If they didn't fight, this would be abused like crazy. I like the fishing as it is now, I just think fish should be added so you can see what you're about to catch- it could even be a different fish than usual. So instead of catching fish and looking in your inventory to see "Fish" you could see "Raw Salmon" or "Tuna".. things like that.

To me it seems like many forget about fishing entirely, that includes me. I usually think about wheat, melons and cows the first thing when I spawn. Cat spacing would be a good idea.
Edit: Many want cats added because dogs are in the game, not only would this add the pet many people want but give it a purpose, and tie it in with another animal that's rarely mentioned(fish).

I love the cat idea!
on-topic:It has been confirmed that fish will be a future mob(if I recall, there is coding for fish already, but there's no model for them.)
I have another idea with all this too:
How about you can craft a fish tank (glass pane version of minecart)
Fish tank is placeable like a block (2blocks wide).
Place water in fish tank.
After you catch some fish (the ones you want) you place the fish tank on the ground and toss the fish items in the tank, it deletes the item and the entities spawn in the tank.
How do you get the fish out? You pick up the tank and they fall to the floor like items again.
In the ocean you could catch a barracuda and put it in your fish tank!
