inb4 Mo' Creatures. As big as these words are, you'll probably just ignore them.
While playing Minecraft and petting my cat at the same time, it occurred to me that if there is dogs (wolves) in Minecraft, why is there not cats? I immediately set to work brainstorming an idea which could take bloom into something extravagant. Here is what I have come up with so far.
Cats would have six natural colors to their pelt: calico, brown, black, white, tan, and gray. These pelt colors would have nothing special about each except that they look differently. Their tails will be high in the air and droop lower as they take more damage.
They would spawn in forest and plains biomes. They would meow when idle, yowl when hurt, purr when fed, and growl when they scent something (read later). To be tamed, you feed it either three raw fish or one cooked fish. After that, the cat would be tamed. They could be right clicked to sit down or they would follow you, but not run around like wolves.
Cats would have eight hearts by default and deal two hearts of damage with their melee claw attacks. They could be healed using any type of meat, which will heal them as the meat heals your hunger meter. Rotten flesh would either hurt them for one heart or heal them for one heart, with a half-and-half chance.
These felines would also have a benefit: an early warning system. When a monster came within twenty blocks of the cat, they would let out a loud growl. Of course, this would only work if the growl didn't make you fall out of you chair screaming and allowing the monster to injure or kill you. Hehehe...
Well, that's it for my thoughts on cats. What do you think of cats being added into the game? Post your feedback or any other tidbits that could be added to the thread. Thanks for taking the time to read my post! :smile.gif:
I love cats and all, but they are totally useless in Minecraft(I wouldn't really want a warning system, besides the wolf should do that, cats wouldn't care).
If there was a cat, I want to see a bobcat, house cats look strange in the wild.
Yeh, I am not really a cat person. The thought of cats in Minecraft kind of annoys me. You idea is really good though. Seemingly cats are just like wolves, except they would growl when a monster is near, and scent areas.
An idea I saw posted in the cat blocks thread was that they should scare off spiders. We need a good defense against the spider's wall climbing ability that doesn't interfere with aesthetics.

The statement above is false.
If there was a cat, I want to see a bobcat, house cats look strange in the wild.
If you're near a body of water big enough, the cat will jump in and fish will pop out every once in a while like you fished it with a rod.
What's the point of adding that feature? So we can add cat-fishing farms.
