So I think it would be neat if an ore cooked in a furnace had a chance of yielding more than one ingot. Why? It's an alternative to making ore veins more common that still allows for more craftable iron/gold items to be introduced without creating a shortage of ore.
I also think furnaces should have two output slots (or there should be superfurnaces) and that there should be a slimmer chance of smelting an ore into a quality ingot which could be used to create a quality tool or armour that would last longer, or something. ...
Also a blacksmith forge for tool and armour repairs. As for how it would function, you would need to insert a crafted hammer into a slot, which would deteriorate with each use of the forge. The hammer could only fix iron tools and armour and would need to be enchanted to work on gold or diamond. Hammers would require quality iron ingots to produce to make sure the forge is used sparingly.
I don't know, I typically play with just my brother. The two of us could easily burn through a full stack of iron as though it were made out of driftwood. Nether-diving consumes a lot of resources and there isn't much to bring back except glowstone and XP.
I've seen a few people double post, and I don't feel like this was discussed enough, so there.
Anyway after pondering this for some time I've come to believe that furnaces could be divided into three tools. One for cooking food, one for smelting ore and creating glass, and uh...one for blacksmithing things? Okay, two tools then. Therehave beensome superfurnace ideas. One poster even thought to have the superfurnace created by putting two furnaces side-by-side, which I was going to suggest...but that doesn't have much to do with the other aspect of this suggestion. That one smelted item can yield more than one item when cooked.
As for why I'd want to overcomplicate things by making threetwo tools do what one already does? ...Honestly? Just so I could build more functional rooms into my fort.
If you go into any cave, ravine, mineshaft, you will find more iron then you usually feel like carrying. If you mine for diamonds, you will find more diamond then gold. Gold is common in the same areas as iron but not same areas as diamond.
All in all, leather isn't common enough, iron is far too common, gold is ok and diamond is okay.
Armor needs to be nerfed majorly. We have enchants, ores are common, we also have potions now.
If we have a dual-smelter, I would add alloys to the game. That's the only use I see fit for it.

You know, you can't smelt diamonds without enchantments, so there's that. As for iron being abundant...the chance of getting two ingots from an ore could be tweaked, like I mentioned, and...I also mentioned that there could be a chance to produce quality (second tier) ingots, which effectively splits the amount of ingots you'd get anyway, and could lead to armour nerfs to accommodate second tier armour.

Also more dungeons.
I don't like suggestion threads so much.

then we got Enchantments , potions , and ores are more common to find what else do you want. :mellow.gif:

Yeah, is ore really that abundant? Maybe it's different when you're playing alone and resources aren't cut in half.
