If anyone here has never played dungeon defenders, its this fun game where you survive rounds of goblins trying to destroy your base. You can place defenses like barriers and turrets. My idea was to add a cross bow turret. It would be a dispenser with iron bars and a cobblestone base. The crafting would work like this
where is dispenser or bow.
To start off, the turret must be loaded with arrows like a dispenser. Instead of firing straight, the turret aims at nearby monsters, or players who are attacking you. The bad thing is that these things could be taken down like a player. The GUI would show the arrow slots, a health bar, and a slot for iron bars to be placed in order to repair the turret. You can also place eggs or snowballs in the arrow slots.
Holy ****en ****, I had the same idea literally seconds before this was posted.
orly?
Sounds nice... a dungeon defenders based TD mod. Good luck!

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
I say we combine the spinners suggestion with this and make dispensers be able to rotate better then just the cardinal directions. Then I say if the dispenser is timed to a certain tick it actually charges the dispenser to fire each arrow at full forces because it has the waiting time. X-bow turret? I don't know about that.

Good point. But there are some factors that could balance the "cheating" issue like slow fire rate, limited ammo, health, and limited range.
My question is, how does it know what it's firing at? I think if you made it like a regular turret(manually operated by human) it would make a lot more sense.

That's sounds good
(P.S. i came up with the spinners idea)

The statement above is false.

Make it so that when a Snow Golem is hit with a Splash Potion of Strength its snowballs do damage.
The Sun rises in the North! Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
This way, noone could abuse the automatic system by placing 10 of them in a row. Who could get past 10 crossbow turrets pinpointing on them? X.X
Btw, crossbows fire bolts. ;D Might have to be changed a bit.
