Well... This may or may not already been done, or is possible in one way or another, but...
Play minecraft from the cloud! I would love to see minecraft become a game that allows you to change the directory of where the minecraft\ folder is located! Imagine being able to run minecraft on ANY computer via flashdrive (aka Portable Apps) but being able to access ALL of your mods, and ALL of your maps without needing the few gigabytes of storage that the minecraft\ folder consumes!!
Now you may ask, why not join a server, or host your own!?
Well, I have a server running, and I enjoy playing that too, but im a creative builder, I like to build modern and contemporary houses when im not on my server. That way the people who play on my server who enjoy survival are satisfied! As for why I dont want to join a server, because then what if it closes, what if i get banned, what if i get grieffed? I dont want any of those factors to come into play, therefore playing single player makes this solution the easiest!
This would be great, but sadly. i dont think its gonna happen, why? Because Notch (who made this decision and suddenly dissapears) teamed up with bukkit instead of steam. Also there is a plugin, (im sorry i forgot its name) which allows you to have two different worlds on a server and travel between them using portals, we have it on the server where i play on.
Dont get me wrong tho, i have a huge amount of respect for Notch, but he just made some bad decisions.
Ya i know there is world travel in servers, but again, I prefer using a singleplayer world just because a.)I dont have to rely on plugins that dont work the same as my Single Player Mods and b.)In singleplayer the only person I ever have to worry about is myself.
Thanks, close! but as you can see above, my minecraft a healthy chunk of memory... of course I could dedicate a flash drive to minecraft solely... but with the rise in cloud computing I would love to see the game become cloud based
EDIT: based on that tutorial I might be able to make some changes and get it to store info in the cloud
What the hell did you do to your Minecraft? My folder is barely more than 65MB and I have at least 20 iterations of Minecraft in it, in addition to mods, their resources and other resources.
its mostly the saves folder...
One which is a decently sized town (a backup of my server that I edit via single player occasionally)
